I am running the 5.03 on Vista with no issues

How,....

When you install Reflex on Vista it doesn't unpack all the files you need. Therefore I installed it on my XP installation and then copied the directory to a safe place whilst I put Vista back on.

Once Vista is on go through the install process again for Reflex. When it has finished copy your back up folder over the install directory.

Then it will run fine. Not sure what the installer is checking for while it runs but it decompresses everything but them main executable I believe. So long as you have that somewhere already uncompressed then you can just drop it over the top.

The new installer on the next CD batch will work fine in these environments. A reasonable workaround for the time being is rather boring: just install Reflex on a 32 bit XP and copy c:\program files\reflex to your 64bit or Vista manually. Just need a few links to the desktop or task bar, that's it. As Reflex doesn't need any registry keys, a manual copy/paste works fine.

Check yours,.........

I believe if you turn off the User Access Control under the users section of Control Panel then a lot of those issues will go away and Vista will stop badgering you about things..

Some guy tried this,........

Guys I copied the Reflex folder from my old XP to my Vista Program Files folder.
Everything works fine except that I get an errormessage when I close reflex. It is not able to save some kind of .ini file.

As I am pretty interested in whats going on there I have tried to play around with permissions but even everyone / full control doesn't help.

Whats wrong here?

Interesting ...

deleted the Reflex.ini and had Reflex recreate it. After that procedure everything works fine and the error is gone.

If you got problems when XP upgrades to Vista,......

I upgraded from XP to Vista RC1 and Reflex wouldn't work. It came up with the os incompatible the first time I ran it then it ran ok but couldn't find any models as the directory seemed to be unavailable to reflex because of permissions on the program files directory. In the end I moved the Reflex directory to the root of the C: and it works fine.

Cheers.

I just got a new PC with Vista and I can't get Reflex to run either. I have tried the fixes above, but I can't get it to work. When I copy the entire Reflex folder from my XP machine and paste it over the Reflex folder in my Vista PC I can get it to start up, but it says the heli is unavailable, then the .mod file is unavailable, then the program quits every time :( I have tried deleting the INI files too, but it just gave me the same errors with a different heli (Caliber I think??). Can anyone help? Is there any more people running Reflex on Vista without problems?

funjy,

I am running fine on Vista Home Pro- I don't know if the version of Vista matters... I have reflex XTR version 5.03.0, I have it running from the program files directory without any issues - can't remember if I installed before Vista upgrade or not though. I have the Red dongle key - not the new one (I think it is Blue)

OK, I got it working now. You have to create a new folder named REFLEX in Vista in the C: directory instead of C:/Program files. When you install the program in XP, it defaults the setup to C:/Program Files/Reflex. Copy the REFLEX folder in XP and paste it directly into the C drive in Vista and it should work.

You can get it to work in c:\program files\reflex if you select the directory, and make everything within it r/w for all.
