Anyone tried a 3S on their 200? I noticed the manual that comes with the bird says 3S or 2S. Would the ESC handle a 3S?
I shortened the servo wiring with a crimper and use a CX2 canopy so I'm saving about 26g in weight. So I dont think weight would be a problem.
Also, anyone tried a third party CNC tail hub? The stock one looks pretty weak at the ball joint to the tail rod.

2S works just fine... I like it better than the 3S..

I've never tried 3S on it. 2S so far provides plenty of power. My packs are 7.4v, 2S 900Mah...and I'd love to find a 7.4v, 2S pack with something in the range of 1000 to 1200 mah that is still thinner than 30mm. Haven't found it yet though.

Wouldn't it theoretically be possible to get longer flight times (non idle up mode) from a 3S ? I mean, if you adjusted your pitch curves and throttle curves? Wouldn't a 3S give higher head speeds at lower throttle?
Just curious as I don’t fly in idle up mode. I just putt around.

I thought exactly the same thing... I lowered my throttle curve to get a managable (aka flyable for me) head speed and then did my normal flying around in the shop for 5 minutes. At the end of that time I still put about 600 mah back into the 800 mah pack (which is exactly what the 2S 7.4 volt packs take) so I don't think it will give any noticiable longer flight times. It still is just 800 mah.. I am looking for some alternate 7.4 volt packs that might have the 1000 or 1050 mah.

We tried it. It wasn't worth the weight gain for what you get in performance. We had to reduce the throttle and this caused the ESC and motor to run hot plus the heli gets pretty twitchy with that much power.
2S makes the heli much happier.

Thanks for the info. I the more I fly this little heli the more I like it.

sorry for the double post. For some reason I cant see my own Threads or replys.
I think you will find that 3S works well if you change to a 10T pinion
The increased weight is still an issue
but that gets the electric drive train working correctly

Align's 1100 7.2 pack works great!Just use velcro and put the pack in place vertically.

What kind of flight times you getting on that pack?

About 4 min longer over a E-flight pack (800ma)But, I like flying with the lighter 800ma instead.

If im just hovering I use a 1500ma 20c electrifly 2 cell and strap it to the bottom of the heli and it
works perfictly and I get mad flight times. The weight is higher but mine has no problem at all
with it, I do inverted hovers flips and rolls with no heat buildup. If I want a to get real crazy I
use my flight power 800ma. With proper collective use 1500 is not out of the question if you are doing mild and slower 3D.
