Just got my pro-lites - first charge,
Hooked them up to Astro 109 and they charged in about 36 minutes,
but seems like they only took in about just over 2000mah

I am still pretty new to the electric world, but when I haved charged my older TP8000, they take in more then that just to replenish.

Am I missing something here,

Is the Pro-lite set up differently??

Is this normal or should I not fly them yet,
Thanks - your help would be appreciated,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

That is because they come with a 75% charge. Go fly! And enjoy! Just remember not to over discharge.

Russ, thanks, you always have the answers.

Should I only fly 5 minutes on this first charge to break in and get an idea of how many amps. I'm pulling.

Also, another unrelated question - on the ION, are you locking the tail boom into the clamps beyond just the normal bolts and nuts - are you also slow CA or adding a screw on side.

Thanks,
Jeff

Can't wait to see the 32-3 prolite combo. tomorrow - fist time out with them.

Short flights after making big changes is always a good idea.

No I have never needed to glue in or pin the boom in the chopper, for the majority of us this is not needed though I have heard of booms that are slightly smaller and don’t fit as tight as well as some pilots who are able to make the boom move so your mileage may vary.

Russ, I flew the 32-3 and Pro-lite combination.

All I can say is, "H--y Sh-t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

3D was awesome - was very punchy and gave me the same feel as my 91 extreme Nitro.

Tic-tocs, some chaos, you name it - I flew it hard for only 5 minutes to get an idea of what I'm drawing down. Will put a charge on tonight and will report back.

The only other question is, the motor seemed stiff (just hand turning on the bench), then loosened up after it cooled down. Have you encountered this? Maybe it is gear mesh issue.

Thanks again,
Jeff

My motor never gets very hot, are you using the heli version? Never heard this but Tony says he has so I guise just fly it.

yeh , he states the 32-3 heli version , I think its got to do with the esc having res voltage built up in the cap , like when you have a motor in hand and touch 2 of the wires together , its hard to turn .

Thanks for reply - at first I thought it was the gear mesh - but it was the motor - just tougher to turn by hand spinning the main gear, but 10 minutes later, its back to normal.
I do have the Heli. version and it flew very, very well. Will report back with any issues.
Thanks again guys - appreciate your insight.

Russ,
Recharged pro-lites for first time - took in about 2700mah, but I didn't fly that hard, only 3D for about a minute or so and then just flew some circuites and lite aerobatics for a little over 5 minutes to break in pack and see what the charge turned up.

Looks good, I am going to give it a whirl again tomorrow.
I definitely like the combination - awesome.
Thanks,
Jeff

2700 for five minuets sounds good, glad you’re having fun! Nice when stuff works this well isn’t it

Yes, its definitely cool when it works out - now that I'm starting to get a handle on the tech. and the heli. is flying well, I can now hopefully spend some time exploring the flight envelope - its still a new ball game, eg. getting used to the sound, now hearing the blades more and still wondering if the heli. is going as fast as a nitro. because you don't really hear and see the engine and smoke - different ball game for sure.
would also like to trade in my older Gen2TP8000's for another set of PRo-lites.
Also, do you know much about TP's new charger coming out with balancer - I need another charger and was thinking about waiting on this - its out in the next week or so.
Thanks Russ,
Jeff
