I am brand new to the sport. First post here.
I am starting with HeliSimRC and a USB gaming controller I had laying around.
My Newbie question relates to proper layout (mapping) of the controls. In flying flight sims and FPS gaming I always invert my Y Axis.
I don't want to start with bad habits and would like to know what the most common assignments for the sticks (mappings) are. So far here is what I have assigned to what function (mainly taken from HeliSimRC):
Roll Cyclic: Right Stick - Left/Right
Pitch Cyclic: Right Stick - Forward/Back (pull back to nose up)
TailRotor/Yaw: Left Stick - Left/Right
Throttle: Left Stick - Forward/Back (pull back to throttle up)
Collective: Also on left stick.
Is this fairly typical? If not could you please suggest what setting I should change.
I hope to find a Spektrum DX7 soon and pick up G3, Phoenix or Reflex. I plan to spend a lot of time in sim before I even start shopping for a Heli.
Thanks in advance,
Rayo
