I need help understanding the polarity for JR radio on the Duralite charger.

I bought the Duralite Lion 1300mah 11.1v transmitter battery for my JR 10x tx. I installed the battery in the case and sealed it up. I made a connector with two male ends to connect between the duralite 7.4v receiver battery charger and the transmitter battery. I then plugged it in and the green light comes on. Good so far, and then I read "The charger's receiver and transmitter battery charging receptacles are center positive".

On JR 10x transmitter's the charging jack's center is negative and the outside is positive, so there is a contradiction here. This leaves me a little worried about burning the house down.

Also, when I installed the battery into the transmitter's battery case, I noticed a warm spot where the battery's safety regulator is located. This was even before I started to charge it. This concerns me too.

I am lost here and appreciate any help and advice.

You don't want to connect the Duralite RX battery charger to your TX battery. The RX battery charger is for 7.4 volt batteries, the Transmitter battery is 11.1 volts. Get yourself a Duralite TX battery charger.

Duralite makes a charger for their transmitter battery and also one that will do the transmitter and 3 receiver packs. They also have a JR specific charge lead for the JR packs transmitter packs and yes, the JR TERMINAL (charge port) on the transmitter itself is center positive. The battery however is normal polarity (black wire neg/ red wire positive).

Don't use the receiver charger for charging the tx pack, get the right equipment for safety sake.

Using the 7.4 volt receiver battery charger to charge the 11.1 volt transmitter battery is not going to work. I am really surprised the light on the receiver charger would even come on indicating that it is charging the battery. The receiver charger will only charge the battery to a max of 8.4 volts.

Paul,

When you call Duralite to order the 3 in 1 charger, Rochelle will ask what brand of transmitter you are using b/c the leads are created to match the OEM wiring (Futaba vs JR). The JR lead part number is PPD-32336 JR.

FYI - the leads can be determined by the color at the jack: black = Futaba and gray = JR. (I know some guys who fly Futaba and JR and the color coding jacks are an easy way to remember the correct one.
