Has anyone heard if BEAM/Advantage plans on distributing this Heli thru other vendors? (This is NOT a b!tch session against BEAM/Advantage). It just seems strange not to have more suppliers for such a great heli! People have already stated that 'parts availability' does affect their decision to buy a BEAM vs. a TREX.

Has anyone heard if BEAM/Advantage plans on distributing this Heli thru other vendors? RC Hobby And Sports carry beam kits and parts. http://www.rchobbysports.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69&products_id=2532

Not a for sure thing yet, but my shop in San diego may be carrying parts and kits with in the next month or two! (discount hobby warehouse for those wondering)

So bob, I think I am going to give the 6100e a shot and save myself some cash on a receiver. Did you use a 6100 on yours? Man I can't wait for my beam. I am hoping Sunday I can get my servos and a gyro for cheap at rcx....

and remember the kit includes a cf spacer for the front servo's;)

Which is enough for servos such as the Hitec HS-65HB but not for the HS-56HB.

Hi Bob,

This is an excellent Forum and the BEAM seems to be excellent in all aspects, flight and construction.

Would'nt it be possible to have a dedicated section whithin helifreak for this machine. We would then be better organized with our findings and questions on the BEAM, helping others with the research of different themes.

Regards,

Eduardo

Hi Everyone,
I'm having some odd behavior with my beam and wonder if you can figure it out:
I get an odd behavior when I do some pitch pumping with my Beam.
After 3-4 pitch pumping with the collective, the heli just takes off straight up in the air. This is in ID2 and ID1.
I have to hit throttle hold to get it to come back down.
I'm running the following:
DX7
AR6100 v1.6
Scorpion 55A ESC and -6V2 10 tooth pinion
ID1 80% flat Th curve, ID2 90% flat Th curve
HS65MG, 401/9650
Medusa 6V BEC (2A)
Evolite V2 2500 3S packs

This also happened before I installed the BEC, and it also happens at the beginning of the flight if I try to pitch pump right off the bat.
Everything on the heli is smooth, no binding in any of the links.

Any ideas on what can cause this?
Thanks.

Lets see how popular the Beam gets... If we get enough people talking about it then yea we would make a sub forum for it.

Bob

Got my answer.... I had not noticed that this had already been asked and replied. I hope we are getting close to the magic number to conquer the right of a sub-forum. This would be more organized.

Thanks,

Eduardo

I didn't measure my cyclic but it is maxed out.

I know this has probably been covered, but for those of you using the 6100 receiver on v.1.6, did you have to send it to spektrum to get the new version or did you buy it like that already?

Thanks
Justin

Ha.... I still have 6100's on 1.0 and have yet to have a problem. Most of mine are on 1.2 and I have none of them on 1.6

But yes you have to send them in to get updated if you want the latest code. I personally think Spektrum should make a upgrade cable so everyone can update the damn things themselves! I mean whats up with having to send the RX's in every 3 months :(

amen to that. I am just gonna go with it and not worry about it. HELL if I crash it because of a receiver problem, then I'll send it in. For the time being, v.1.0 here I COME! LOL

My 6100 came out of the box with v1.6. I have another 6100 I bought a few months before and it came out of the box as v 1.2.

To go back to my previous post about the cutout, I switched to my old AR6000 rx and am still getting the lockout problem, even on a fresh pack. do you think it's the ESC?

maxed out really? wow, i'm on 12deg pitch and can only get 6deg on cyclics. any more than 6deg, the links on da flybar control arm set will binds to da washout arm set.

Anyone getting more than 6deg?
I didn't measure my cyclic but it is maxed out.

I'm running 11 and 7 with no problems. Maybe you could take a picture I'm having trouble seeing how the washout arms could conflict with the mixer arms on the flybar carrier.

Another thing I thought I would bring up is that on the instructions it shows a "hard" dampener and a "soft" dampener. It appears there are in fact two hardness orings for each side included in the kit. To be honest on the first assembly I couldn't really feel much of difference between the two. I kind of thought it was a typo or something. But now that my dampeners have worn in a little there deffinately is a soft one and hard one. Also I ordered a package of dampeners and they are separated 5 hard 5 soft. It's not a big difference and I'm not sure it really makes any difference in flight, just thought I'd mention it.
