It goes on the inside of the lower canopy lip. It's suppose to take up any slop between the canopy and the Main Frame Bottom Plate......

If you buy a spare canopy it will come with another adhesive-backed foam pad...

I figured that out that it was meant for that purpose, however I glued mine on the main frame botton plate where which comes to the same result. Inndeed it cures any slop between the canopy and the main frame botton plate.

I am really enjoying this heli very much. Very nice to put together and the parts are really well thought of and manufactured.

Unfortunately I noticed two points that should deserve attention by the manufacturer IMHO.

The first which is not TOO important concerns the plastic rudder servo provided. Sure they do the job but with a heli meant not to need any additional better quality upgrade, I think BEAM could have come with metal ones.

Second and to me very important issue is the quality of the ball links. Since we are in the 450 range, my previous experience as many of us here, was with the Align T-REX. I have built 4 of them and never ever needed to work on the links to have the commands free. With my BEAM it was quite the opposite, I was obliged to work them out and sometimes with no success to have a total free command from day 1.

I had some spare Align links and I tried them out on the BEAM. What a difference.. I can say night and day. I have recovered the free commands I enjoy having which make the servos works effortlessly and avoid me chasing the heli due to stiff connections.

I don't know if many of you have found this issue on yours and it may just be a bad batch of links that came with some kits, but with mine and comparing to Align, these were no good, although I am sure many of you will have had a problem or two with the Align ones, but not me.

So, these are the two points I would appreciate the manufacturer to pay really attention as it ends up to pay off. Other than that this heli is a real pleasure to build and fly.

so after lots of personal debate, I have decided to go with the -8 v2 scorpion motor. It still rocks and I look forward to it. The only thing that scared me was the packs getting really hot with the -6 motor...

So I have decided on the motor and on to the esc. Cc35 or scorpion 45? I have heard the scorpion gives the scorpion motor more power than the cc esc:.. Is this true or just a weird rumor???

I'm running the scorpion 35 with my -8 and 14 tooth pinion. No heating issues. Warm yes but not hot. Put back 1300 mah in a Kong 2200 pack after 4:30

I do not know about the Cc35 that you mentioned but I use the scorpion -8 and the 45 scorpion controller and I am very happy.

I have the scorpion -8 and 45 esc, works great. The speed control gets warm but not enough to be a concern. I am trying out some different pinions to see what I can get out of it. I had a 16 t, the esc and battery was getting a little to warm, I think I will settle on a 13t.

Hi, could someone give me some setup info on this motor and esc? I am currently running this setup with a 12 tooth pinion on flightpower 2170 batts. I am also using a 9303 radio. I am getting about 10 minutes of hovering with my settings right now. I am hovering without training gear but have not moved into forward flight yet. I have mid stick throttle at 53% and full throttle at 70%. My pitch curve is -2,0,9. I am unsure of where my head speed needs to be. I know many people running the Align motors at 60 and 70% but the Scorpion motor has more power. I am running the Align 325 pro wood blades because they are cheaper to replace so my head speed dosen't need to be balistic. All comments and suggestions would be appreciated. I will post on RR as well. Thanks.

Ordered 2 painted canopies, 2 Thunderpower batteries, and a package of Tail Control Rods on Thursday evening, they were on my door step Saturday afternoon. Packaging was top notch. I've always had good service from CME. Thought I'd give them a

Thanks Chris!

Hi,

Just going to buy this BEAM to have a little brother to my SEv2

I'm gonna put :

1 x HG-D261HB High Performance Digital Tail Servo (Coreless Motor)
3 x HG-D202HB Cyclic
Scorpion v2 -8
55AESC Scorpion

Really don't know for the gyro ... better a 401 or a Logitech ? Spartan is too much expensive for me.

Anything I should modify?

Hey guys.. Interesting note here. I just got my beam kit today from UPS, and when I started to build, I noticed that the Head is pre-assembled.... mixer arms are already mounted with the seesaw, blade grips, and head all on the main shaft already! the washout arms are already installed on the washout base, but the elbow arm needs to be installed still. I also checked for locktite and it was solid... the grips are smooth and washout base is smooth on the phasing pins.

Only bummer is the ball links aren't installed and I have Balls that I don' t know where they go. (Mixing arms, washout arms, servo arms) I am disappointed the balls weren't labeled for where they go because the screw sizes are also different!!!! makes it kind of a pain. I don't want to just put them where I think they go.

Has anyone else had this?

Other than that, it is going together like a glove.. perfect fit on everything

Every kit comes with a manual too.:YeaBaby:

yea I know bob. I did use the videos but it is still confusing when there is 2 bags with balls and screws in them. I guess I dont know what bag to use. The kit you built in the vids is one of the first kits, and nothing is assembled. Since mine is partially done, they just put the balls into bags with out label of where they go. The manual ALSO states nothing either. It shows a build like your videos, and doesn't say wat bag of balls and screws to use. Makes it a bit more confusing...

Edit Below

Maybe one of you guys will still know. I am not really seeing where they go still after looking. One bag has 5 balls and 5 screws all same size. The other bag has 5 balls and 5 screws but one of the screws and balls are a bit longer. Are all 10 going to be used on the head?

I'll have to check mine but I think all the balls for the whole heli are the same with the exception of the one on the swash with the standoff for the anti-rotation bracket and the one that is used on the elevator servo arm. I'm pretty sure the rest are all the same, I'd just be cautious with screw sizes. make sure you aren't putting to long of screws into the upper swash for example.

The manual details the size of each ball and the size of each screw that goes in it. You really have to look for each ball and screw within the assembly diagrams.

ok so I think u have figured it out... I was getting the servo balls confused... Haha oops. There is one longer ball and screw for the elevator servo. And there is also 4 other smaller balls and screws in the same bag...

Well that kinda sucks in my eyes. I would rather have it all apart rather then have to take it apart, check for loctite, then reassemble. That's one of the things I really liked about building the BEAM, and one of the things I really disliked about building a Trex 450!

uhh its not too bad actually. I kind of like it that way. I do understand what you were saying though.

NOW I PULLED ONE OF THE MOST NOOB THINGS EVER! So I am building the ball links. The links are tight on the balls. So low and behold I don't have a ball link reamer and use the good old needle nose pliers to the ball link trick to loosen them up. works until I break one!!! CRAP. so I look in the kit and it doesn't have any extra and I am stuck waiting for more ball links come to my house. I guess next time i will use the reamer! HAHAHA

No Trex 450 ball links laying around?

no not that I know of... I was curious if the 450 links would work well for the beam. Anyone else using them?

Finless

YES they will work. Balls are the same size on this heli as the T450...
