Akira.I'm running a 13T with the -8, though I'm using the governor on my CC35 rather than fixed endpoints. The 13T gives me around 3000 rpm head speed at approx 80% throttle, which is what I set my governor for. I don't remember exactly, but I think 100% was around 3300?

If my math is right, I figure using the stock 14T pinion with the lower kv on the -10 would give you around 3000 rpm at 100% throttle. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm way off ;))

Probably higher than you need to just learn hover, but you can lower your throttle curve a bit to get in the 2500-2600 range without loosing much efficiency.

Hope that helps,
Jason

Also, when your ready for more power just switch to a 4S battery and hold on!!!
Oh yea, and youll have to change your pinion.
This is my perferred setup and its got insane power and flight times are great!

Are Futaba S3154 servos a good choice here ? What do you guys recommend.
Thanks

I'm using a 14T pinion with the -8 motor and a 35X ... should I go 13T ?

CédricI beleive that will get you about 3500 at 100% throttle. Depends on what you want, but that's pretty high for me. Though I'm sure there are plenty of mad 3D pilots who'd like that setup. :nanabobo

Thanks to the Finless Bob video's, my Beam kit went together without any problems or issues.

Since i just started flying helis this year, I am sure that I would have been stumped several times with nothing but the line drawings in the manual to go by.

Having the ability to see the actual construction, rewinding and seeing it again, is great.

Im not finished yet...my servos will not be here till Monday or Tuesday. I cant wait to start crashing.....I mean trying to fly this little heli. Now, if I could watch a few videos and get some flying skills out of the deal, I would be all set.

Thanks for the help!

Bob, try to remember back when you first started then ask yourself the above question??? OF COURSE THEY HELP US BEGINNERS:YeaBaby: And thank you for the training vids. you have done so far:thumbup:

Bob,
I am capable of putting a heli together. With you video i did it in half the time and you give great tips and solutions to potential problems. The video's are a great tool to help out beginner or ever experience pilot.

It also give me insight into other heli's. It was great to see how a heli go together before I buy it. I for one hope you keep doing the video's. There are so few tools for learning many aspects of rc anyone who does education video's is doing the hobby such a service, so thank you for what you have done, and keep up the good work.

Oh no problem on the build vids... I don't plan to stop doing those. I was asking about the flight training videos and if I should do more of those?

I should have been more descriptive, I was talking about what was most useful to me, i should have mention the training. I would classify the flight training the same, just as important. Even if you know how to do a maneuver doesn't mean you are doing it right, a lot of people don't have others to watch. From basic to advance, I would like to see more.

Thanks

Yes Bob, the flight training videos are helpful. I personally like the stick-cam. Good stuff!

Hi Guys,

I've been working on my Beam Build and love it. However, while watching Finless' video of the tail build, he brought light that the manual calls out two different sized spacers/washers in the tail pitch lever (a .5mm and a .7mm). I pulled mine apart and oddly enough BOTH of them are .5mm. I don't have a .7mm in the box.

So my question is, has anybody else seen this issue of 2 .5mm and no .7mm?

I'm guessing that the thicker one is placed inside the lever/ebow to provide spacing between the two bearings so they don't get pinched since the lever is just plastic. I did put it together as-is (prior to getting to the end of Bob's vid) and it seems to work with no binding. Any comments on using the .5mm when the manual calls for the larger .7mm spacing?

Thanks,
John G.

My kit had both size spacers. I put the part together without noticing that there were 2 different thicknesses of spacers. Afterwards I sam the on the next video thet the spacers were different, so I took the lever apart only to find taat I had blindly installed the correctly.

Call the seller and tell them your problem. They should mail a spacer out to you. If you finish your build in the meantime, you should be allright for some trim hovers as is. I would want it right before wringing it out though.

Bob,
I wound up with a Scorpion 55A ESC and the 2221-8 motor. The ESC is very big as you you said and I feel like it may affect the cooling to the motor etc. I went ahead and ordered a Castle 35 and I have a Castle switching BEC that I will use with it for good measure. Do you feel like the 35A Esc will be suffifcient with this setup.
I am pretty green at this heli thng but everything else I have has CC ESC's and I am comfortable with the setup and Castle Link programming. Im just starting to second guess myself and wondering if I should have ordered the CC 45? It will not be flown hard for a while...not because I dont want to..because i dont know how to...

Jason, do you have the scorpion 55 ESC or the CC 35?

Thanks

I have the CC 35. BTW, I'm using a Park BEC rather than the built in one, which helps keep it's temps down.

Good to hear. With the seperate Castle BEC hooked up with the CC ESC, maybe high temps will not be a problem.

Now the only problem is waiting till next Tuesday for the other ESC to come in. I ll probably end up installing the Scorpion 55 while I wait if I get impatient. Im sure it will work great..I just cant tuck nit away on the little shelf under the battery tray..

That's why I mounted it under the tray. Seems to work OK there and no interferences with structure or motor. Figured it came with the motor, might as well give it a shot.

Seems I'll get back to 13T pinion with the v2 -8 motor... 14T is kinda crazy.

I am loving the videos. Very helpful especially for a beginner. Since my head/blade grips arrives assembled should I the assembly apart to lube the feathering spindle?
