ok i think i got it dialed in flies great in the living room but small space...so today took my cx2 down to my shop to fly in a bigger area... and try out my new li-po very happy however did a hard bank to the right and the bird went down...looks like a blade strike between upper and lower blades....good grief charlie brown... damage report one upper and one lower blade this thing is turning into a money pit.....!!!! now my question is this... if i upgraded to the new blade grips and stiffer blades ive seen would that solve my problem...are those new blades stiffer anyway...? i don't think it was the fly bar that did this but im not real sure i dont think its long enough to hit the bottom blades.....suggestions please.....i also read on a post here if you put shipping tape on your blades that will stiffen them up....thanks

I think what is striking is the flybar and the lower blades.
The best solution is to get the aftermarket main shafts that are longer and separate the blades more. The packing tape does work however. The fiberglass tape is used and I cut it down so only about four strands wide. You only need it on the bottom of the blade. Lately, I've just been laying a thin strand of CF down with CA, but the tape is easier and I don't think the CF is any lighter.

damage report one upper and one lower blade this thing is turning into a money pit.....!!!!

Geez, please never try the big ones :) Come on, consider them as consumable item. Otherwise they would not come in pack of 4 for about 4$

Try having a blade strike with any bigger model and check if you gets out with a bill of 2$

thanks frebou....... however after buying the bird, training gear, upgraded landing gear, xtreme tail section, two extra batteries, two sets each of upper and lower blades, shipping handleing, and all the gas to and from the hobby shop, seems as though all i do is spend money and do very little flying...i'm sure my expence is small compared to what you spend with your heli...but all i really want to do is fly this so called out of the box ready to go heli and wasnt aware of all that was involved upgrading all the cheap stuff they put on the ready to fly toy...maybe i shouldnt have said money pit.....however i just cant stop now i'm addicted and need some advice......oh by the way what did you first start out on or were you just always really good at what you do.......

I know what you mean it does ad up but when I was transitioning to the cp pro a little blade strike was 20 bucks! that got old quick! Now I practice on my honey bee and tinker with the B400 all tail in little movements.

As to your question, yes it will help but there no guarantees it will stop 100% of them. But you will drastically notice the difference.

Hi Heyjack,

I started out on a cx2 also. Usually flown outside which isnt idle for this little heli.

I Upgraded the blade grips and longer inner and outer shafts from bladecx2.com.

Never had a blade strike again!:happyd

However did have many wind assisted landings :arggg:

Good Luck!

heyjack8: Sorry, I may have been a little rude, it was not my point. I understand it may be frustrating when you want to fly and the damn thing is always broken.

I have a CX2 too and it is stock. Flys great. I've replaced a couple of blade and recently the lower head hub but I did not even bought the metal one. I'm playing inside with this one and using it to teach the kids! :) They love it.

I've started on a raptor 30 nitro 6 years ago, had my share of crash with it and still have from time to time. I'm not above that at all, it's just part of the game and we know those parts cost money and cause frustration :)

Hope you get some good flying time with your heli and have fun!

Funny, the same thing happened to me last night. I was doing full forward flight and went to full backward flight, the upper and lower blades hit each other and my CX2 went down. I guess the CX2 does not like aggressive flying.

Lucky thing the replacement blades are cheap (compared to Trex 450, 500 blades).

ok boys back in the air see my pic used mailing tape on blades to make them stiffer.....also pulled fly weights back and turned them reset the end of the turn into the rubber instead of pulling them back to where they are in the stock position... this fly weights are not all the way out on the fly rod.....first test in small living room seems to fly very well...actually blades seem to be better balanced......ill keep you posted....thanks for all your replies....!!!!!!
