View Full Version : CX2 - stalling?

Hi guys,

I'm having fun flying the CX2 around the house now. The only crashes seem to be due to the heli losing power. Usually, during a turn, I have the throttle at full, yet it descends, and sometimes crashes...

It's not the battry dieing... it seems like possible too much pitch called for, and the blades don't go fast enough to maintain the height? Sometimes, if it doesn't hit something, andkeep the throttle at full, it regains power slowly, and lifts, and flys normal again.

Any ideas why this is happening? I'm thinking I am asking for too much head speed, and because the blade pitch is high, it's battling to get the head speed up?

All stock parts.

hey buddy this just happened to me today batteries in radio were weak transmitter started beeping and when the heli got some what far away from me it just fell out of the sky.....lost all power and crashed no damage though..maybe your radio batteries are weak and this is what happened to you...just a thought

No, mine is a completely different happening. Mine is flying fine... it's just sometimes, mainly after a turn, it seems to gradually lose power. I hit full throttle to afoid a crash, and it slows the descent, but I need to bring it to a hover, and then it climbs.... So no radio problems... It just seems to not have enough head speed for the amount of blade pitch I am asking for...

You said it yourself. You are stalling. The CX2 isn't designed for those types of maneuvers. Even with a brand new battery, the size, pitch, and flexibility of the blades, coupled with a fairly slow stock motor is going to put you into a stall at a high degree turn or fast back and forth aileron control. If you want to perform higher performance maneuvers in a CX2, there are upgrade blades you can get, plus some better Lipos.
Happy Flying.

Thanks Smokey. That's confirmed it then, thanks. Upgrades might be a good move... I'll look around. Is it the aluminium upgrades I'd be looking for?

you don't need alot of upgrades, probably the only one you need would be a good battery. What you are experiencing is fairly normal, if you turn one way the heli needs more throttle to stay afloat, if you turn the other way it needs less. Check your gears and make sure they are not too tight against the pinion. also check your bearings, any parasitic losses on the powertrain will cause it to not have enough power.

A well used battery can only provide good power the first minute or so of flight, from then on its sluggish and you experience yawing problems. Try a better battery first, it will probably make all th difference in the world. the aluminum upgrades are only going to add weight which is the enemy.

I'd steer clear of expensive metal upgrades. They just add weight and they take money out of your 'CP Heli' fund. Try a better battery and maybe some stiffer blades @ www.helihobby.com (http://www.helihobby.com)

Thanks guys - a better battery sounds like a good move. I don't need to do sharp fast turns with the CX2, I guess.. It's made for gentle flight anyway.

Checking those batteries. Recommend any one in particular that doesn't require mods to the heli?
