I finally got my hands on my 500 , got it all assembled and ready for the fixings.

So far the plan is :

9650 x 4
401
ar7000
6s 3000 ish packs
mah 430's
stock tail (grips with dual radials)
run the works on 6v regulated

I've got pinions from 12 to 17 (may go 8s later)

I was following a few thread here and there talking about the 60a esc having brownouts, volt dips , not holding volt settings, etc.

Has there been any conclusions found yet ? I don't want to smack up a new machine on a known issue. If i kill it .. well that's heli's but other failures i have a harder time with.

Another thought is to use a jazz 55 on it and a bec. If i part out my 600e hv i can reuse these items. Would a medusa 3.5a bec be enough ? I'm going to stay away from the CC bec as i've heard some failures, any other good smaller than medusa choices. I don't have a problem with spending a few $$ to get good stuff.

Thanks for any input or observations .

Martin :)

It seems like a hit and miss. Mine is fine and running a stock setup. There are reports of pilots installing a ground wire from the neg led of esc to the motor mount.

mine works fine so far.. about 50 flights on it. one thought - have you considered a 9257 instead of 9650 for the tail? it would provide faster response and is roughly the same size/weight.
link to 9257 here
