I have been into R/C planes a couple of times in the distant past. Decidedd to try helis and bought a Blade CX as an introduction.

First attempts outside did not work. Brought it inside which was better. After finally working out how to adjust the proportional mix trimmer plot I started to get something approaching a stable hover.

I still find I have to do a lot of work with the throttle to maintain a steady height. Also the heli seems to start oscillating or move suddenly in one direction rather than stay in one place. Is this normal? Although its getting easier it is really hard work to keep this thing stable. I find the left stick controls lacking in sensitivity while the right stick is overly sensitive.

I have bought a secong lipo, but fell I the need to reduce the charging time and increase the flying time. Any suggestions?

Having found this stable heli to be difficult, I am thinking of buying a DX7 and a GWS Beaver for some more relaxed air time while perserving with the CX. If the CX works out then I am thinking of going to a Blade 400 or TREX 450. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

Is it a new CX? You should be able to hover stable hands free for more than a few seconds with a CX/CX2.

My CX2 will hover hands free for the longest time with very minor drift.

Get the Trex 450. Its more expensive, but when you crash (and trust me, you will crash), the repairs are cheaper because Trex 450 parts are everywhere. And the Trex 450 is easier to work on and repair. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET a Blade CP+. For me, the Blade CP+ is the hardest heli to fly, the Trex 450 is much easier to fly than a Blade CP+.
