I have just bought a Raptor E550 kit and I am in the process of building it. I need some advice on which battery I should go for. I know I need a 6S and it needs to be able to fit in the heli - some batteries are too big to fit in there.

Two options are:

Thunderpower extreme V2, TP5000-6SXV 5000 mAh 25C (125A Continuous)
Fits nicely into the frame but $65 AUS more than the hyperion and heavier
or
Hyperion HP-LCX5350 6S which is 5350 mAh 16-25C (85,6A Continous)
Only just squeezes into the frame.

I'm a little worried about the C rating on the Hyperion and if it's high enough for the Raptor E550. If any of you guys could give me some advice it would be really appreciated.

I'm using the TP 5000 packs which fit no problem and never get more than warm, this is with an 11T pinion fitted and heavy sport/light 3d flying with the timer set for 7 minutes. If your flying is going to be up to this sort of use then the rating on the Hyperion packs should be okay, they sound like the Flightpower Evolite pack (both from Enerland cells) and I know a couple of people getting on well with these in Trex 600's which are harder on the packs.

I have three of the TP packs which all have around 50 cycles on them and are doing very well.

Hi there,

Here is an adress for a simply solution to put in your TT 550 or 620 virtualy every lipo pack of 4000 to 5000 mah. It is a compatible Lower Frame Upgrade that i used on my TT 550.

You can buy it at this store : http://www.tppacks.com/proddetail.asp?prod=aCNV%2De500
