View Full Version : Tempest open tail gear box - FAI Vs. 3D version
Hello guys,
i got a Tempest FAI kit with Extreme head (brand new) and MA put in a Tempest 3D complete open tail box. i was wondering if all the FAI gear (tail bellcrank, tail pitch slider and other stuff) will fit on the Tempest 3D tail box well ?
which one is considered better for 3D anyway, and why ? i can see the Stratus uses the left side (3D) tail box..
thanks.
I did some more looking into the kit and it seems that they just put in a complete 3D tail box (123-75A) instead of the FAI box (123-74A).
anyway, how do i convert my 3D box (123-75A) to the FAI (123-74A) box, while making sure the mesh is correct ?
thanks !!
OK guys, just by looking at the pics of both gear boxes i figured out the conversion was easy enough so i went ahead and it did, just poped the roll pin out of the outer gear, and loosened the 2 collar screws and the shaft went out, then re-placed the gear and collar on the opposite sides and tightened.
anyway, i would still like to know what you guys are using as reference for gear mesh, especially since i hear it needs adjusting after the first few flights (breaking in) anyway.
thanks !
