OK... I'm selling off my T450 4 blade main rotor at cost. It was mounted but not flown. I haven't progressed that far yet. The reason? I just bought a Align 500E canopy, in order to go more scale I'm going to get the 5 blade head. Originally I bought the 4 blade head because I didn't want to split a pack of blades and try to match them up to the other four. But what the hell....
Anyway, I'm selling it for $99 which includes shipping if you are in North America. If not in North America.... we can discuss it.
These normally go for $109 plus $20-$35 shipping. So you are getting a deal.
PM if you're interested.

Are replacement parts available for this head?
What else is required for flight?

I haven't tried looking yet since I haven't needed to replace anything. But I did do some measuring and it looks like a lot of align parts will fit. The main shaft is the same size of course. The swash plate can be replaced with an align one (I was going to do this), but would need a hole drilled and tapped for a new ball link. Otherwise I don't know.
I planned on using a couple of GWS gyros (will use them on the 5 blade head)... these cost me $29.00 each and I'm told should work fine. You don't need heading hold gyros. I'm also using the Helitronix mixer. BUT I'm told if setup correctly none of this is needed. But the head, gyros and mixer cost me the same as just the head if I bought it from DeeTee enterprises, so I don't mind getting the gyros and mixer for this project.
Hope that helped?

BTW.... if I don't get anyone interested by next week I'll put it on eBay as a buy now for the same deal as offered here. Thanks for your interest.

The gyros on the rotor head really do help a tremendous amount. The gyros eliminate the bad characteristics of the multi-bladed head, such as the tendency to pitch up dramatically when transitioning out of forward flight. They also play a large part in reducing overall pitch axis sensitivity.
When people are skeptical, I always encourage them to try and fly the machine without the gyros to see what it really feels like. Once they have flown the machine a bit without the gyros, I suggest they add the gyros to see how it feels. Almost always, they come back and agree that the gyros make a tremendous difference and they wouldn't fly it any other way.
I guess all I'm saying is that you probably don't want to be too quick to dismiss the gyro assist. It's really quite beneficial, even if you can learn how to fly the head without it. It just comes down to how you want to spend your leisure time. If you want to learn to fly it, you can. If you would rather just enjoy it, add the gyros and you'll be all set without any more learning curve.
