What is a good gyro & servo combo for a Bergen Intrepid gasser
23cc engine

Push-pull upgrade on the rudder servo ?

Thanks.

How about JR G7000T gyro with 8700G or 8900G servo ?

The Futaba GY401 and S9254 work just fine and is relatively cheap. However, do not use the push-pull setup with that combination; it doesn't help.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your info, I've read elsewhere that the GY401 and S9254 are not recommended to be used with the push pull. That is what I have on my Intredpid and I dont want a disaster.

Any ideas what is OK to use with the push pull ?

Or do I just use the GY401 and S9254 and put the push pull in the garbage ?
Would be nice to use it, I can put the GY401 and S9254 on my Trex N 600.

Does anyone use the push pull on any Bergen Helis, or is it just bling ?

The push pull set up was originally designed to give a little bit of mechanical advantage when using the older 9253 tail servo that had only about 20ozin or so of torque...no need to use it with the newer tail servo's...

can be used...but no reason too these days...

Also...I have had two types of gyros that just don't work on the Bergen...one is the CSM's...not sure why but will not work well with the gasser...the other is the LogicTech...same thing...the tail would blow out...had to be something with the gas engine banging away...would put a futaba gyro back in and everything was good again...

csm sl-560 works fine but it must be the LARGER gyro and not the micro. Also it is recommended you use their dampening mounts. If you had a problem it could be the use of the micro or you are getting ignition noise from the motor. You can tweak it with the computer gui....... now being USB.

Question: what is the difference in flight characteristics mounting the tail servo close to the tail on the boom vrs mounting it up front near the pod. I have seen both configerations on the intreped EB and assume there is no difference other than the mass and c of g .

tnx

Have you tried (or know anyone who has tried) the CSM 720? That is supposed to be the equivalent of the Futaba 611.

I bought a Magnum last week , my first Bergen..
I was planning on using the LogicTech 6100 combo
assuming correct setup it should work fine on the nitro Bergen , correct?

KORN...I can only go on my experience with my Logictech 6100...I couldn't get it to work on my Magnum...but I believe my problem was terrible vibrations coming from one of the first OS90 Pumped Hyper's...I put the GY-601 back on and at least the tell held while trying to get the engine smooth...never could get the Pumped Hyper to smooth out...went back to a trusty old YS90 I had...

So...I guess what I am getting at is I could not get it to work because of vibes with a motor...but never put it back on after going back the YS 90...try it...might work perfect for you!

Thanks Greg ,
I will probably just try it then.., I will be using a st4/mp2/multigov to start , so hopefully the engine will be PnP
would Zeal tape help the 6100?

also , I was going to use some Ace DS-1015 servos I have laying around but I see some posts lately about unexplained failures , not sure to use them

This Magnum is a bit of a fixer-upper but all the latest parts , except for the tailgrips

one more thing , the Intrepid 60 manuel was the only thing close for download , is that all right except for some of the P/Ns?
Hope to see you up at the shop soon ,

Dave

The csm 720 is the same as the 560 (big brother). I never was able to determine the difference. Both are fully programmable and you can set the expo the way you like. The hh mode works quite well. You can optimize the overshoots and oscilations when doing hard piros.

I would assume it is = to the 611. I don't think there is a need to go beyond the 560.
