Ok, I've never gone nitro on any rc vehicles. I'm thinking of going with a Raptor 50 titan. I have a deal going right now for one used, all completed. I'm wondering what's the investment I would need to go with a complete new setup.....That being the kit, motor, servos, reciever and everything...Also, I'm not sure what else I need but the basics, as I've never had nitro....what I'm looking at right now is:

raptor 50 titan
dx7 and rx
gy401
descent servos

What elses will I need to make a descent setup...talking about starters batteries and possible tools....I'm clueless...I'll be doing a lot of learning along the way...

:confused::confused::confused:

Not counting transmitter or any field gear your looking at about $1,000 to get it in the air.

As far as field equipment, you need:

a glow ignighter les than $20

starter depends on what you get, I use the hydratorque from heliproz $109, this includes the batteries and starter wand here is a link for the starter I use http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=804577
, fuel pump apx $20, fuel bottle connections kit, I'm guessing at about $10 or you can get something like this http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=131380

Then some set up tools (any heli needs these even electric). Heli proz sells a complete package of tools for around $100 http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=805530

And lastly for any beginer in heli's, some training gear (other wise none as ugly sticks). I could not find a link for the ones I have but this one will work http://www.advantagehobby.com/product.php?productid=50173&cat=0&page=1

Really depends on the electronics you choose. I didn't start with a Raptor 50, I started with a Venture 30, to purchase everything I needed I made an initial investment of $1,400. That got me the heli, radio, tools and a "starter box" (everything to start the heli in one box, made by Thunder Tiger... I hated that thing). As I progressed I upgraded my Radio, Gyro and field equipment.

When I got the Raptor Titan 50 with the hyper engine, 9252 servos all around, gy401/9254 and govenor that was another $1,400. If I had it all to do over again I would have started with the Raptor Titan and purchased better field equipment. The field equipment that vandelescrow mentioned will do you well for many years.

Well I've gone and done it, raptor 50 is on the way...wifes gonna kill me, oh well, guess I'll have more flight time..lol...

Here's the specs..
Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 Titan

with O.S. 50 SX-H HYPER engine

Spektrum DX 7 trans. / receiver system

JR G770 3D gyro / S8900Gdigital servo

MP550muffler pipe

Carbon Fiber Blades

a pair of wood blades and extra parts

Got it all for 900 bucks, now just to find the field equipment I need....I'm wondering how bad my lhs will try to rape me for the starter and gas pump...

The ds821 servos are not designed for the vibrations of a 50 class nitro. Electric yes, and hold up great, but not nitro. The cases will crack over time on a 50 clas nitro. Heli servos are made to stand up to the vibration of a nitro. 9252's are good and so are many hitec and jr servos. Dont have numbers off hand.
