View Full Version : Fromeco Relions
Anyone uses these lithium ion packs by Fromeco? The 2200mah packs looks good and is rated 4A continuous. What is your opinion of them?

I use the 4400 ma relions with the reliaregulator failsafe switch. Had them for a couple of months now, and so far I love them. Went out one day to see how many flights I could get before stop fly voltage, and ran out of fuel before battery power. I think 10-12 flights with all digital servos will be no problem. The regulated voltage makes the servo response consistant each flight as well. Seems to be a great product, but I have only had them a little while, so time will tell.
Carl,
thanks for your input, will try the 2200mah packs in my raptor 50 to see how they work out! Let you know soon! Thanks again!!!
Kian
I ran a pack of the fromeco Relions 2200 mah li-on. After six flights (each 8min), I'm putting back about 1250 mah into the battery... Looks like this pack is alright to use with the little rappy. (regulated by duralites to 5.1V)

Carl or Kian,
What heli did you have the 4400's in. I, too, was thinking of going this route, but wasn't sure if they'd be too heavy for a Raptor50. Kian showed success with his R50 and 2200's. I'm just curious if the 4400's will be too heavy and throw the CG off.
Any thoughts Kian or Carl?
Thanks!

I first ran 4400mah relions in my vigor then in my Fury. On my fury it was to heavy so I switched to 2200mah at this helped. On a rapy 50 you shouldn't have a problem. my friend flew with 4400mah powerflite batteries(the same thing as Formeco) and it flew fine. I would ask for a flat pack if possible.

Raptor30heli,
I am using the relions on a rappy 50, a fury extreme, and predator carbon gasser. With a tail boom servo mouint on the raptor, the cg was ok, maybe a touch nose heavy, but not much. You might have a little issue if your tail servo is in the canopy position. The pack/regulator weight isn't too much more than a standard 4 cell pack, and much lighter than sub-c packs.

Are you guys using the FROMECO charger, or another brand? The price on these batteries can't be beat.

I've just received my Super Regulator/Switch, 4 cell battery and 8ball checker.
Quality looks great. I set my voltage to 5.3v. What do you guys normally run?
I plan on using my Triton charger for the packs.
Thanks

I am using my triton to charge my relions. Works great

I have 2 older models that are fixed at 5.5 or 5.6 volts, and the newer adjustable one I set at 5.3V. All of them work great.

Thanks for the response. I think I will get a set for my raptor.

dxbman,
I've been using the 5.5 regulator for over a year now with futaba digitals and tj pros. So for no issues, has been a great sutup (knock's on wood).

Does anyone know if I can use the Duralite Plus charger with the Fromeco relions? I want to replace a battery pack and you gotta love the Fromeco prices.
Thanks in advance,

Angelo,
I can't say for sure, but I would imagine not.
I believe the Duralite charger works with the charge safe circuitry proprietary to Duralite to shut off the charger.
You might overcharge a Relion.
Call Kurt or Mike at Fromeco and ask. :D

The Duralite charger will charge 7.4 and 11.1 volt Lithium packs. It does not have to have the charge safe circuit.

how will it know when to turn off? Isn't that what the charge safe circuit does, shut down the charger?

No the charge safe circuit does not shut down the charger.
Light indicates charging process and goes out once charging is complete. 400 mah/hr charging rate
Does the DURALITE® Charger have safety features as well?
Yes. Our chargers are equipped with charge control circuitry as a safety precaution in the event they are used with non DURALITE PLUSTM Battery Packs.
So DURALITE PLUSTM is the safest RC battery available?
Yes! Only DURALITE PLUSTM offers the hobby industry a lithium-ion pack that has the same safe charging standards as those required by major battery manufacturers in other industries.
Lithium-ion and Lithium Polymer cells are charge sensitive and very powerful. Manufactures of Lithium-ion and Polymer batteries produce their packs with safety circuits installed. The safeties are there to protect the end user during the charge cycle.
There is always the potential that an inappropriate charger, malfunctioning charger, or an incorrectly programmed charger may be connected to a Lithium-ion or Lithium Polymer pack. Our exclusive "Charge Safe CircuitryTM" allows you to get maximum pack performance without compromising charge safety.

I was under the impression that the charge safe circuit told the charger to shut off. This must have been propaganda hype from the now out of bussiness powerflite. anyone using duralite tx packs? i would like to have all Li-ion in my set up but after what happened to me with my powerflite tx pack I'm a little leary about it.

I run Duralite TX packs and have for the last 2 years. Had a 9Z pack develop a weak cell, and it was replaced immediately by Duralite. Also ran them in both my 9Charlie's. My sim 9C would run for a couple of months bwteeen charges. Zero other problems, I really like them. Easy is good for a simple guy like me. ;)

I too had a cell go bad on me but using a PF tx pack. I was flying one day when it went from full charge to the radio beeping like crazy in a matter of minutes. Plus I want to consolidate all my batteries to one company or chemical make-up. having chargers for two different types of batteries blows.
