What are you guys using to charge your Li-Ion Packs? I got one of the Infina Models 2000mah Li-Ion TX packs. I've got a kinda funky charger that does NiMh, NiCd, LiPo and Li-Ion. I'm reading that charging at .5C is better for the pack. I'm thinking of making up a plug (yes, negative center pin for DX7) so I can leave it in the radio. OK? Bad idea?

Advice?

Rodney on HF makes these packs AFAIK, and has stated:

Set the charger to 3S and 1 amp. if going thru radio port. If you use the futaba connector you can charge it at 2 amps.

Those are max values. I've heard it's best to do 0.1C, but when I asked him about that, he stated:

Yes the lower charge rate is better over all. But I use 1 amp and mine is about year old with no issues.

So it's up to you. I tend to charge at 0.1C if I have the time, or if I'm in a hurry, the 1A rate.

I just went ahead and bought this charging cord:

and have been using it for the 1A charging.

Thanks for the advice, John. I checked a bunch of Rodney's posts.
So, no blown fuses going through the radio connector at 1A? (After seeing your link I was checking existing connectors, trying to see if I had one on an old wall-wart that would fit. Went to fly. Nope. TX dead. Fuse dead. Must have shorted when I plugged in a connector with a transformer on the end of it. Then I had the fun of figuring out the .3A or 3A DX7 fuse question. Sheesh what an afternoon. All sorted now and tomorrow's forecast is for excellence!

No problems at all. Once I got these, I stuffed all my wall warts in a box and put them away to avoid temptation.

All lithium, all the time!
