I understand the feeling, but it's really my money, the government's just giving me back a little of it.
If either of the parties don't come up with a better candidate I may have to move out too.
What kind of problems did you have starting out with the Belt?

Ammm Difficulty.
As the videos says, the better your setup the easier it is to fly.
Thats what i found.... but yes its way different.
1. it dont go straight up like a lama, yo have to make it do it by compensating with right cyclic
2. It dont go back to hover on its own if you move in any direction, you have to bring it back to hover.
3. The sound when you first get it is Menising (sp) to say the least compared to the lama
What it is really i think is the sound and the speed of those blades and the sound of the blades that has your nerves on end at first.
once your swash is level and your CG is correct and your tail is holding, the only thing you have to worry about is the lift off (giving some right cyclic) to stop the left drift on take off.
I wold suggest you forget RADDS School of flight ... tired, just makes you more nervous with these heli's and these helis are very skiddish when its on/close to the ground, best to just get it over with and pop up to 3-4 to eye level.
You'll see what i mean.

Problems??? None what so ever.
Flew right out of the box... All i did was charge the battery, while that was charging i went over the swash made sure it was straight and level (And it was).
then i spend 5 batteries trying RADDs school crap... and thats just idiocy if you ask me, after i dropped that crap and popped off the ground to get out of ground effect all was fine...
Now foward flight is a different story LOL... lets jsut say i cant do what i do with the lama... YET getting close.

 I know what you mean about the sound, a guy at the park had a Belt a couple days ago. When it spooled up I wanted to run and hide!

You're right about RADDs. It cost me a lot of money in parts until I accidently popped the Lama up out of ground effect.

LOL - knew you wouldn't be able to resist the temptation :D
Jack, I had a pretty similar experience with the Belt CP as DierWolf - checked everything while the battery was charging, and couldn't find a thing that needed adjustments. I was actually getting paranoid, thinking I *must* have missed something. After all, there's no such thing as RTF out of the box, right?
Now, remember that by this time I was getting pretty good hovering a CP2 - and I'm sure you have read what those are like. But with that experience, the Belt CP was absolutely rock solid. My first flight was on a windless day and I could immediately hover on a spot, absolutely motionless just inches from the ground until my nerves gave out and I had to take it back up. I was totally blown away - I had never imagined it could get that good. Like DierWolf said, it's a totally different experience than with a Lama, but I'm sure it helps a lot to have a helicopter that isn't fighting you every step of the way.
I hear a lot of good things about the Blade 400 - but unless you want to repeat my well-documented battles with the CP2, I'd steer clear of the Blade CP. Why not have the best of both worlds? Get a Belt CP and all the support you could want, then replace parts with Blade 400, T-Rex and other components as they break to build your own unique dream machine ;)

Yea Mika, I think you guys are right about chosing the Belt. I'm not rich, but I can afford a Belt, so I guess I'd be alittle stupid not to get something that you guys have already sorted out.
So - the great hunt for a good price on a Belt begins. 'Course the hunt and anticipation is a big part of the fun. Hmmm, reminds me of something else. Speaking of which, I gotta figure out how to hide something that big from my wife. The heli that is.

That would be great!
What Tx and Rx are you guys using?

Hi Wizard, a lot of us are still happily using the stock electronics. I'm not a great pilot, but I can't complain about the Tx or Rx or the ESC and my upgraded HH Gyro at all. Esky stuff just seems to be such great value for money!
I'm 95% sure that it's all in the mechanical adjustments.

I'm 95% sure that it's all in the mechanical adjustments.
Well, I'd rather say that 95% of it is :)
The remaining five you can only correct through a decent computer Tx - things like swashplate interaction, varying end points and off-90 servo horns are simply untouchable using the stock transmitter. It will take you months until you miss those capabilities, though, and the stock electronics bundle IS excellent value for money. It will certainly get you through the hovering stage with flying colors.

Ah, I didn't realize the Belt comes with a Tx. That makes it an even better deal.
I'll never be able to fly 3D so the stock stuff will probably work for me for a long time. Except of 'course for the upgrades I'd have to do just to be able to putz around with the heli. And of course that stock canopy would have to go, And I'm not so sure I like the looks of that plastic head .... :)
DierWolf
04-06-2008, 08:51 PM
The plastic head is fine, just on a crash its prone to break something on it..
If yougot 60 bucks extra might as well get the cnc head (So long you dont complain like on the lama :) )
This is where what i was saying in the lama forum all comes out, MUST BE SET UP CORRECTLY and swash must be flat!... or you'll have a hell of a time tyring to fly it.
Yes you can do 3d with it with the stock radio... I'm still using stock radio and see really no need to buy anything better at the moment.
I spoke with my buddy, currently he is out of stock and waiting for more to arrive.
Keep looking here at his store...

Thanks Dierwolf!
Well guys, I did it. Just bought the first one D put on the link below. :happyd
$195 total. Considering all the money I've spent on Lamas this is a pretty good deal.
Thanks again Dierwolf!
I wasn't one of the whiners about the Lama CNC parts, well maybe just a little, but the parts I slammed really were poor quality. I even posted pics of the broken stuff.
I think I was probably the first one on the evil site that backed you up about the CNC stuff working ok if it was setup properly.
Just like with my Lamas though, I think I'll hold off on the upgrade stuff until I get the stock stuff sorted out.
This is a huge step for me and I'm already scared to death! But I figure with all the support here I'll be ok.
Now I just have to figure out how to sneak this one past the wife.

Wound you recommend that CNC tail over the 450 conversion?

The cnc tail from esky is fine..Its only the tail box but still very good, the grips are also very good.. i see really no need to get the trex version for the belt cp.

Same here, im using a DX6i with great results - not only is is fantastic but it gives you a much better understanding of the heli

Okay I was thinking about the whole set up as I don’t like the little bind I get on the ball links going to the tail grips so they have to be a little loose and that just scares me
