Cool! Great! Now I have to spend the next hour with the sim. :smokin:
(Well, outside it is blowing storm force winds, so why not?)

If you get this model on phoenix see if you notice an exaggerated left drift when hovering. I have no problem with any of my other models but this one its almost like a constanst wind coming from the right side of the heli.

I don't see any difference from flying the T-rex 500, except a little more difficult.

Something must be corrupted in my files. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall but it still does it. Im going to link to a recorded flight... rather a hover.. if anyone gets the time download and watch to see what Im referring to.

Notice that its always the same direction so not a wind setting.. as I have it set to no wind. This only happens on my 500 model and not the others. They all have the drift characteristic on lift but it goes away. It seems to stay there on the 500.

Mine was doing the same thing when I first downladed it. Go into "Edit aircraft", "Main rotor" and check the setting of "Hovering Stability". I found mine was set at 18%. It normally defaults to 100%.
BTW... I find the default setting of 100 feels too "locked in" and unrealistic to suit my taste so I usually set mine to 85 or 90%.

Now, if we could just get Phoenix to stop crashing everytime we try to edit an aircraft! Mine crashes about 75% of the time and my flying buddy's does too. Of course you loose everything you were trying to do.

Mine is already at 100%.The only setting I found that fixes it is tail RPM but then the tail lets go.

From Phonix-Sim's homepage:

We have recently been experiencing some technical difficulties with our download servers due to high volume
of traffic. This problem has now been resolved.
We would strongly recommend re-downloading and re-installing any program updates downloaded between January 1st - 2nd - as well as any additional models or sceneries.

Yeah that was a month ago. The 500 just came out lastnight I think and I got 1.05 several days after it came out so thats past the timeframe they give.

Sorry. I just saw the first and second but did not notice that it was January.

I had a pilot on another forum record his hover and its obvious on his recording as well. So we either have the same problem or the model is wrong.

Send a mail to Phoenix-sim support. They answer within a few hours.

I have exactly the same issue. It is mostly drifting to the left. The model looks great, but I got the feeling that it is what twitchy with lots of cyclic. I'm not sure if it the parameters are ok.

I did send an email to phoenix and instead of answering the question they just said it is suppose to do that. My question was how to completely wipe all traces of this model and its settings from phoenix so I could install it again and be sure it was a fresh install.

Here is a comparison of the disc angle to hold hover. What I cant show in the image is at the angles shown the other two will start to drift right. You can then level disc and right drift fades to stationary then of course left drift will start again. Not the case on the 500.

For those interested here is a variant I did. This, to me, is a much better representation of the way my 500 performs with the following.

Jazz 80
500L on 13T
EVO 25 6S 2500
7703D 8900 tail combo
68% on aileron cyclic ( have to check but I think this is about 8 degrees)

I fixed the exaggerated drift and heli stability is very much like my 500. I added a bit more of the vortex lift loss as the orginal model seemed to always stay at any give altitude. It now will drop a little after coming to rest. All are welcome to download and give it a try.

Put this file in your My Documents > PhoenixRC > Variants > Helicopters folder

I have exactly the same problem. A new installation didn't solve it, so there must be something seriously wrong with the Phoenix's T-Rex 500 model.

Has there been an official solution to this problem. I´m almost certain that this model is wrong compared to almost all other models in phoenix. Way too much drift to the left...

Yes they have it listed as being fixed in 1.04i I think, or one of the later patches. If it still to much you can go to "Fine Tuning" Tab and turn down the "Tail Rotor Wash" setting until it feels right to you.

Mine works perfectly :D
Thats because they released a patch that fixes it.
