Got in the first flights on my newly finished 500 today and have a couple of queries,
1, I managed to get the gyro gain up to 98 with no tail wag in HH mode (using the gear switch on a dx7, a 401 and a 9257) do I need a larger servo arm ?
Only get a slight tail movement on hitting the throttle .

2, I set it all up as per manual for throttle curves and it hovers at mid stick in normal with a slight tail bounce which I think indicates headspeed too low ? is it best to increase throttle points or decrease pitch points ?

had a shock when i hit idle 1, by mistake i had set bottom stick at +6 instead of -6, this sent the heli climbing away from my garden (in the middle of a housing estate) and me in a bit of a panic but managed to hit idle 2 and regain control (not pretty flying but got it back !

Certainly you will have more light than mine from other helifreak contributors...

I use the GY-401 and the S9257. My gain is set to 50% and it seems to be enough. The servo arm I use is the round one and seems to do the job.

I noticed that in the T-500 the throttle curves are very different than those on my 450. I use it with 2x 3S 2200map and 13 teeth pinnion. Indeed in my first flights I had similar problems due to low rotation in the blades. I flew it today and increased even more my curves in normal mode. They are now 0 - 60 - 80 - 90 - 100. Pitch curves are linear.

When we have low rotation it is common to see the heli turn a bit when we pump abrupt power. With more RPM I would say it will disappear or will be very minor.

Good luck with your bird and enjoy it.

Thanks Eduardo,
I too am using the small round servo arm so will increase my throttle curve as you have which will also increase the tail sensitivity i presume which in turn will need the gain reducing ( I think ?)
No flying today much too windy fir my current skill level.

With my limited knowledge of RC heli's, you should not be hovering mid stick, because at that point, your pitch (curve) should be 0 (zero). When you hover at mid stick, you are hovering with only 80% head speed, and that could be your problem.
