View Full Version : Best blades for flybarless?

Has anyone been experimenting with different blades and how they work in flybarless applications? I've been flying with the Radix 600 and SAB 620's on my T-rex 600 (CSM flybarless setup) and they both seem to fly great no matter what configuration I'm using. However I recently tried out a set of the new Thunder Tiger 620mm blades and had some very strange behavior. Coming out of a loop for example just about as it got level it would zoom up just like I pulled full back cylic. Something similar also happed during sideways loops as well. At the top of the loop it was like I suddenly pulled full cylic. Everytime I tried a pirofip it just went into a spastic attack! I didn't change any of my cyclock or SL720 gyro settings to see if I could tame it down I just put the Radix blades back on and it flew perfect again.

I'm thinking blade weight is one of the factors but I notice the TT blades are much more flexible than the Radix or SAB's.

Radix 600 133g ea.
SAB 620 137g ea
TT 620's 126g ea

Anyone else had a similar experience?

It is a factor how how the blades CG is, a much more outward cg is said to perform much better, for larger moves the blades with abit of give such as Radix are said to work better. Vbaldes for example are good, however being so stiff and a middle to inward cg they tend to be abit more tricky to setup on flybarless setups. On CSM setups that I have seen pilots have favoured the Radix blades.

Thanks Shawn. That makes perfect sense. Maybe I should have asked the question a little differently. Like... what experiences have others had flying flybarless with specific types blades? Or which blades work best with flybarless?

BTW... I love the way this thing flies now! It has SOooo much power and collective response! Today I flew 5 minutes of really hard stuff and it only used 2759mah! I'm going to convert the T-rex 500 asap!
