Man, I thought I'd seen some unsafe heli vids in January of '07... I this ranks right up with the stupidest heli stunts of all time.

OMG :Slap:Slap:Slap:DOH:DOH:DOH:DOH

I will never understand why some people think tethering a heli down like that is going to help them?

I don't know why Safety section is not the first section people read. 450 is like a chain saw and you need to exercise Murphy's law.

I read the posts before watching the video. Yeah, yeah... Wow! I wonder if he realized how close to a painful end to future procreation he came? That could have gutted him or much worse. :(

Yeah, I mean that's a big heli,

He shows ABSOLUTELY no control over the craft what so ever. I understand the "safety net" he must feel with it being tethered... but a craft of that size... goto a field!

He seems to be is some sort of shock at the end of the vid.
"Gee, Wow, I almost cut my balls off!"

I 've watch this video over 30 times now and its still unbeliveable !! How close he came to amputation of his GONADS.

I'm glad he was by himself that day. Glad his buddys werent standing to the right or left of him . And how do you consider tethering this machine with a simple hook and eyelet latch.?

The only thing that saved him from sure injury was that the left forward trainning rod didn't hit the pole first. IF It had ; I'm sure the heli would have bounced off of the pole and drifted dead center toward him with no possible time of escape. Notice his planted left foot went numb.... while his right foot got the hell out of there lol.

As My saying goes A TURNING ROTOR FEELS NO PAIN!!!!!!!!

Many years ago, I thought the tethering idea was a good one. I was outdoors, lots of space, and used a cinder block with about 6ft of rope on a 30 nitro. As soon as the rope tightened, I learned a valuable lesson regarding the physics of helicopter flight.

I learned the same physics as displayed in this video. (first time trying embedded so incase it doesn't work, here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBbD5oD5FTY)

That's no 450. It's a lot bigger. I am new to heli's, but know that one isn't a small one.

As far as tethering, somebody said it was an eyelet. I thought it looked more like a tent stake in the dirt crack and a normal (hook on both ends) bungie cord. Can we all say Darwin Awards? He doesn't have to kill himself, only take himself out of the reproductive gene pool. Next time and 2 foot his right and he will be successful in doing that.

That was pretty crazy. First thing is he couldn't even fly. You can't learn how to fly if you have something holding it in a 4 foot square. That's what's keeping the control, not the pilot

That would require intelligence beyond the intelligence of a person who would do such a thing!! :arggg:
