Just an update.
Testing Rotorworkz frames, 130T main, longer boom, longer blades (463mm), faster tail (65T pulley) with my non-driven tail mod.
Pictures that have white blades and red tips are stock blades for size ref. Pic with canopy has 463mm blades.
What a beast, and it's hungry for more!

Can you take a picture of the frame and is it available on there web site?
Wow, if it flies great. That would almost make a real 500 heli.:rolling

The frame Matt is flying on is a prototype, it also is a Rev A and since that design we have made some changes that will enhance performance plus many option parts such as a stretch kit that matt has been working on
Alot of new things are being made or will start to show up shortly after the Chinese New Year.

Wow, if it flies great. That would almost make a real 500 heli.:rollingThis is my goal. In my current config. the heli is ballistic. I have really pushed the limits for a "500". The next blade size is a true 500mm but blade root size is a problem for this kit, so 470mm is going to be the limit.
The tail mods have proved to help, night and day actually. I feel we will need some better tail blades for use with the narrow root on the tail grips, better yet a larger root for the grips would really be the best solution, then blades that are already available could be taken advantage of, esp. longer tail blades.
We need to do much more testing of different configs to come up with solutions and I feel we are very close to having a heli that will spin 430mm blades with authority and 3D with the best of them, if not better then some.
I am trying to keep you guys up to date, I know you are waiting for solutions, these things take a bit of time and I hope you guys can be patient, good things around the corner for sure. For those that worry about cyclic being slow, it's not, its actually very quick, and I'm sure with the final mods in place will be very respectable.
Of course your choice of equipment will make a huge difference with your experience, I am still using HS85mg servos, with the longer arms from Charlie they actually work quite well for my needs which was very surprising.
My current setup:
HDX500RV
Trex 500 flybar and paddles
Z-20-1470
Jazz 80
3 HS85MG
GY-601 - 3400G servo (switching to full size for more tests)
6s 2200 and 2500mah packs with the 2500 coming out on top for sure!
Hope this helps,
Matt

Another update:
Running a full size servo on the tail which helps a great deal. The heli is a rocket with 430mm blades, with 463mm blades its ballistic.
I flew a couple of flights today, still beating on it. Hope to have a video soon, should be interesting.

Matt what pinion tooth count are you using for the zpower 1470kv motor? Any news on your testing?

Jeremy, I dumb thumbed it in a while back and have been super swamped at work to get it back up. I'm running a 13T on it ATM. Its a bit too much for the 2 3S packs with 463mm blades if you beat on it. With a 6s 2500 its a little bad a$$.
There are a few things that were wrong with the original design, I made some changes and passed the suggestions down to Charlie about it. With the longer carbon boom, full size servo on the tail and hs 85 servos this thing moves fast enough for me. I am however using the flybar and paddles from the trex 500.
This heli is fun to fly, parts are inexpensive, and doesnt have any glitching issues. I do however recommend to NOT use the plastic parts if you are running a high HS or flying it hard. Mine is all metal and is still lighter than the T500.
