OK....I Guess for me, this is the tuff part of my build!, Gyro setup and trying to center the tail servo now and set tail linkages...
1. had bought the Hyp50 and the 611/9256 combo at a show last year for the the 600NP, then saved more $ gathering hear and there to get the rest.....
2. have everything mounted and wired on the heli, but my NEW 9256 has no response (no buzzing, nothing!) hooked to the gyro, I'm running lipo/Align reg. (all good!) and 5.1 stepdown between the tail servo and the gyro.
3. Can I disconnect the lipo system, hook a 4.8 batt up to reciever and plug 9256 directly into receiver rudd. channel, with the 5.1 reg attatched (5.1 is heat shrunk connected to servo lead) to test if servo actually works without damageing servo? (not having it hooked up through gyro..) or should that servo only be hooked up through the gyro (display on gyro says good 5.8 volts) is it ok to test to see if servo actually works this way?
4. I also have the thro. cut programmed in PMix 2 as per Fin's video...when setting up gyro, should all mixes be turned off or INH as described in Nigel Brown's step by step fogger posted......to start out with?
fogger - Nigel Brown's GY601 / GY611 setup how-to. Best I've seen!
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=38075
5. Programming my 1st 611 with DX7 is shall I say confusing.... Finless says he's using the Gyro menu and others might use GEAR to toggle Gyro on/off......Ugh!!!
Does this look right for connections with AR7000, MultiGov, and Align Reg. and 5.1 reg.?!!
6. Also Are these connections right??? If I'm missing something or settings are wrong in radio, please let me know......i'm feeling stumped!!

I personally dont like the gyro menu, but here's how mine is setup:
RX 1-4 is plugged into rudder port
Rx. aux is plugged into gear channel
set limit A and B (i'm using 120)
set gain on gyro (using transmitter ATV's) to show the gain you want on the gyro amp (i'm using 37)
multi gov is connected to Throt. and Aux 2. port

NO, you can not plug the 9256 straight to the Rx, it is a narrow frame rate servo. The Rx does not support this. Are you sure you have it plugged into the correct slot on the amp??

Check if you put then servo in the right way into the stepdown regulator, cause my JR 8900 goes in both ways but only one way will work, put it in the wrong way - no movement whatsoever... (make sure the wire colors match on BOTH sides)

Ok.... Glad I didn't try that servo test, something told my inside not to do that (Whew!)
I have a response from my tail servo now and DAMN, It's NEW and the gear's or something are stripped I do believe and its buzzing and grinding.....SOB!!! Fresh out the BOX!
OK.. just tried to twist a bit with my fingers on the servo and its just like a stripped gear!
And...........Apparently the colors on the permanent leads coming out 611 amp are opposite to the way you plug in the servo BLK/WHT......that's why it did not work!!
Connections to all appropriate places are correct, just the colors were wrong on the lead from the tail servo into amp......
thanks baddraptor for making me check that, I for sure thought placement was correct, polarity was backwards.......thanx!!
all others appear correct....................................?
damn!................Damn!......................DA MN!!!

invertmast.......What in the gyro menu is wrong? It is default now except for switching from RUDD D/R to AUTO, wont it be on Auto? just need to get to the point of setting F.Mode #'s and Rate? ( I was think'n it would be set up a bit like Fin's video on 450 + Jermo's Vid)
Is that right?.......
its been awile since I set one of these up, can you tell?......!!!!..........

nothing is wrong with the gyro menu on the radio, i just personally dont like it. Mostly b/c we dont need different gain rates with the 601/611's. you run between 30-37 % gain on them in all modes, so i just run 37% on it all the time. and use the gear channel and switch to switch between rate and HH.

OK.....new gear set installed......plugged in, powered up and servo "jitters" back and forth with no response from the stick, power is going to the servo, just like a confused signal.....
turned off and unplugged both RX/TX.....plugged back in and still the same
servo didn't get warn....didn't have it powered up very long.
can the servo be damaged if accidentely plug into the amp backwards....
that did happen by accident at first (when I found out about the gear set)
The hard wired plugs on the amp are one way, blk/red/white, but the servo plugs in the opposite way, white/red/blk......
611 manual does not say polarity nor does the amp show +/-, and the 5.1 stepdown did not have the little guide flange that futaba has on their plugs..
When I first hooked it up I just assumed the plug would plug into the amp the same way....OOOPS?
it appeared as servo just had no power plugged in that way (reversed)
this is also how it acted when I first plugged it in findig the broken gear... the "jittering back and forth slightly"
and I do believe the gear set is in correctly im pretty sure...
any thoughts?

When i first connected my servo to the 611 i had some strange behavior to.
It wouldnt follow the rudder stick , it had power, cause it was all over the place when playing around with the sticks on the radio.
It acted as it was a bad connection for the signal wire on the step down.
This was a 2 way step down.
So, i disconnected all and put the step down on the powerwires from the 2 in 1 one, now it worked just fine.
Then i put the step down on the servowire again, and made sure it was seated properly and suddenly it worked as it should.
Later i had taken this apart and connected it again, and had the strange behavior again, viggeled the connectors a bit ( on the step down) and it started working.
Decided i didnt want this to stay in my heli, so i butchered the step down and tok one of the diods and soldered that directly on the +wire on the servo. Now i have a permanent step down on the servo.
It works just fine and i have one less connection to be worried about.
The wires on the step down was some :BSS anyway
About you connecting the servo the wrong way, i have done that many times(not with a 9256 tho)without damaging anything.
You should get a new servo from your vendor since it was broken when you got it.
Could be more than the gears that is wrong with it.
No, but you can connect the gyro as normal to the reciver and skip the step down for the servo, and use a 4,8 v battery as power for the reciver, just to check that the step down isnt messing with you as mine did to me.

Thanks for the info Y@nkee, I will try double check out the connections, also thought of trying w/o 2 in 1 ant the stepdown and a 4.8 Nicad pac to check...I will let you know shortley the results..
When I really decided to get a larger nirto heli was 2 years ago and it has taken awile to save my $ for this one..
Bought the 611 combo and Hyp 50 at the Toledo WeakSignals show in early 2007, the 600 was just introduced at the show and I was hooked. They have been shelved ever since, buying the MultiGov a few months later and the rest right before christmas....
Bought for cash as requested by the vendor as per our agreed price..never received a receipt. And he is not based in the USA pretty sure.
I remember the vendor and I'm pretty sure I was the only one he sold these items to as that was all he brought (1 of each) I was upon his booth at the beginning of the show and at the end and never replaced them in the display case, so I'm figuring those were only ones..... hmmmmmmmmm. now seems "fishy".....

5.1 stepdown connections seemed OK. Unplugged it......
Tried on a 4.8 batt and the servo still does the same.......
hope its not the AMP......
how can I check before I Spend $.....?

Hehe i tried my servo direct connected to the reciver .That didnt work.
Hope i didnt ruin it.
You know anyone that have a 9256 you can try?
There also is supposed to be a secret menu on the 611 where you can change the servo framerate, that would make it possible for you to try another standard servo.
But i dont know how to do it, and i wont recomend doing it if you dont know how.
Btw i connected the servo to the gyro again and it still works.(puh)

Check this out!!!!
Again NEW never used, probably can't do noth'n about it, Servo..........
Decided to take it apart and run w/o gears ,just drive motor, (which spins fine alone)
and noticed from a profile the metal gear was a bit tipped to the side and not level. lifted it off and SURPRISE!
The plastic underneath the Metal gear is collapsed and caved in.....'EL Busted'o!
Its like someone had opened the combo 611 box before I bought it and pushed really hard on the Servo Arm part of the metal gear that sticks out the top...or somehow (maybe) when assembled...
That explains the plastic broken gear broken in a partial moon shape shown above.
When I first noticed the broken plastic gear a week ago, I ordered a 3 set of replacement plastic gears and put the servo back together, really never noticing the base for the metal gear was broken, I assumed just a plastic gear problem was it. I did pull off the Metal gear at the time but didn't notice the broken base...thought it was OK.......
This Sucks......extra $130 I shouldn't have to spend and the extra $ on gears for a servo that is Junk!
But can you imagine if it worked for setup and was broke but not noticed or problematic until flying?...............Whew! REAL CHAOS!!!!!
I will assume the AMP is OK.......I hope......

why didn't you just return the thing for a all new setup when you found the first problem? If it was sold as New, then i'm sure the store who sold it would of like to of seen this also

Found out the vendor is in PA.
cash sale - a year ago - at a trade show - with no receipt offered from him, either way, never got one.......
JUST pulled it off the shelf to use for the set up recently...never would have known of a problem til now......
I doubt he'll remember, but he might, but probable will not believe me and say "well, I'm Sorry!" (think'n I ruined it or crashed with it by now..)
All I can do is call tomorrow and see what he says,....
Anxious enough, I already told my LHS to order me one to get here by Tues....

This servo has been handled with TLC since I'v owned it...
No falls, drops or sudden "Crack!" or anything from my gear assembley as I can Assume.... Have rebuilt many servo's flyin dogfighter planes......
still bum'n!
