When balancing my fan I drilled through it making a hole Approx 1.5 mm do I need to patch the hole with JB weld or is it Ok?

It will be OK. Put a piece of tape over the hole on the fan blade side. Then when you install the magnet, the epoxy will not run out. Once the epoxy is set, remove the tape. It will be a nice smooth finish.

Your not the first to drill thru the fan <G>

Yup,

I did the tape trick too. I would do it again on purpose. It allows you to see that you really did get the glue in behind the magnet. The top side is smooth as glass. You'd never know.

Hey LOOK, the way I read your post, When balancing my fan I drilled through it making a hole Approx 1.5 mm do I need to patch the hole with JB weld or is it Ok? It has nothing to do with installing a magnet, just drilling to balance.
Don't sweat it and don't put any epoxy in the hole unless your going to mount a Governor magnet in that hole. ;) Then balance after a magnet is installed.

No sweat David.

Helodad, No Flying for me anymore. I've crewed everything we have at the Test Center but I've only flown a UH-60, AH-1 and UH-1 while on maintenance test flights or in the 60's case, illegal excursion's back in the 80's
