When it's cold, windy, snowing or raining outside, I keep my fingers nimble flying Phoenix. When I fly, I like to listen to music and kinda choreograph my flights with the music. I am not a "heli on crack" 3D flyer. I enjoy nice smooth flights. I like to fly my helis like I fly planes for the most part. So when I am doing this, I sometimes start recording with Fraps ( a realtime 3d video recorder ), then later process the video with the music.

If anyone else does this, I would enjoy seeing some of your videos. I like to watch others stuff as well and pick up on some new manuvers to try :).

Anyway, here are a couple of mine..........

*** I do not like to post these on YouTube and such because it degrades the quality of the video so much. It makes it really hard to see what is going on. ***

Well i guess i will throw my hat into the ring here. It gets a little ugly in the middle but i think using editing/practice/warming up really isn't in the right spirit of things.

SPaRX,
smmoooooooth. (people must think we're freaks). Nice music. Nice moves.
Two suggestions. Don't 'catch' a flip at the end. Just slow it enough to let us know you're in control, then slide it into the next move. Don't put reverse moves back to back unless the music calls for it. Like front flip to back flip is abrupt. Front flip to roll to back flip softens it.
Listen, this could get really good. Keep it coming. They're like meditations.
And if you dare, play with the water more. I think there's some magic available there.

Oh, HFG?
you're just on crack.:rolling:rolling:rolling:rolling:rolling
I'm kidding man. I'm just old.

Thanks raylepper. And thanks for the comments. I appreciate them :)

Both of those videos were un-rehearsed. I will try and keep your suggestions in mind the next time :). I just kinda fly to the music in real time using my knowledge of how the song tempo is as a guide.

Ohhhh So let me get this straight, first it was the mini titan and now its pheonix. You never get to doubt me again torko !!!!

FRAPS -> Moviemaker is what i used.

I used pheonix to record my session. I then played the recorded session back and captured it with FRAPS. I then imported it in to moviemaker, added audio then exported it using the max file size movie maker allows. Youtube will further reduce the quality from there.

I am personally in favor of simply trading the .rec files (by this I mean, I am personally in favor of all you really good pilots posting your .rec files - as I am sure you are not interested in seeing my 1 millionth attempted inverted hover -> splat).

While I agree that .wmv and youtube is nice for people that don't have Phoenix and to show off the brilliance that is Phoenix, it is also nice to be able to see demo flights in full-screen mode and to be able to slow things down if desired. Also the .rec files are extremely small and compact.

I switched from G4 to Phoenix and one of the things I actually miss from G4 was the plethora of training and demo flights.

I would probably actually pay extra for more tutorials and 3D training sessions - especially if we could get some of the well-known names on board...

Plus, with the .rec files, you can turn on the controller view and follow the sticks if desired. And you don't have to worry about how to convert to .wmv or youtube.

just some random thoughts for the evening...
