I was talking the the Florida Logo distributer today and he advised me that if I was going to use a Kontronix Jazz ESC that I would be best off to match it with a Kontronix Tango motor because the 2 work well together resulting in greater efficiency, longevity, etc. Is this true? This motor is also double the cost of the factory recommended Hacker A 40 10 L. Is the Tango motor that much better?

The tango 45-10 is certainly a fine motor, however it is not a high tourqe extreme 3D motor imho, and it is an expensive motor. This question of yours comes down to a few questions...

What kind of flying do you like to do and are capable of?

What do you expect or want for flight time?

How much money are you willing to spend?

The Hacker A40 10L motor performs fine and runs cool with plenty of power on a JAzz ESC so I wouldn;t have any hesitation recommending that

I also run the Hacker A40-10L-8 on 15T and it runs cool (110-120F) with a Jazz 80 (idle2 - 85% = 2310HS). The 16T made everything run a little hotter. So far this motor has performed well for my needs but I'll probably pick up one of the new 600 class Scorpion motors Lucien mentioned in a few months just to try.

Thanks, I'm just starting out. It sounds like the Hacker would do just fine for me. Will the Hacker give me as good a flight times as the rest of the motors? I'm guessing that they all have about the same efficiency?

Yes. I get around 6:30 FF on a 4350 pack and about 5 mins hard flying.

What are your thoughts on a Orbit 25-8 Heli Expert? Are the Orbits battery hogs?

Jeremy that motor is great, 15 tooth for ballz out, or 14tooth for mild to wild but with tad less grunt.
