They are a bit pointless - by the time they go off you've gone far too deep into the pack

You need to fly on the basis of using 80% of the batteries capacity
That is way before the Lipo alarm will even think about going off

Eflyernz makes very nice adjuatble lipo alarms. PM him for details.

Set to 3.3 - 3.4 volts per cell they give a warning at almost exactly 80% on my helis.

I fly primaritly by time, but with the lipo alarm as a backup incase I forget to start or reset the timer, use a not fully charged pack, or something is wrong and the heli is burning more amps than usual.

Thanks for the refferal Kevin :cheers

My 5-7S alarm fits the Trex-500 + 600 perfectly, either between the boom stays or in the case of the 500, under the rear u/c :) If you have a Logo or similar, just say how wide you want the fibreglass light panel and I'll cut to suit.

I'll get some photos of the 500 install on my web page soon... when I get a break from making alarms!!!

FWIW another + to Pete's alarms. I noticed two of my packs were kicking on the alarm when I demanded a lot of power from them. This revealed a bad cell in both packs that I wouldn't have necessarily noticed had I not had the alarm.

As for the accuracy, they're pretty damned sensitive. Both of my alarms I "calibrated" with a digital power supply at work. They are both accurate within 0.05v of my "on" voltage. Not bad for a Kiwi working on his kitchen table. :)

Table :rolling
The top of the beer fridge...:bad

The manual calibration is the most time-consuming part of the build but it is more accurate than a pc printed label - and a lot of hoping that it matches...

I said "at least one more". I'm pretty sure three encompasses that. :)

Pretty good response time too.. Custom made in what? 3-4 hours from the time I requested the big one? The beer fridge must be empty. :)

This is how I mounted my alarm on the Trex-500. It will fit between the rear boom stays like the Trex-600 too.

30 flights on my alarm from Efliernz and always 80%. Quality product. Every heli I buy will have one.

EflierNZ, how much are your alarms shipped to the US? Do you have any pictures?

The 5-7S six-light alarm (as shown above) are US$35 each plus $6 (total) postage no matter how many are ordered. The four-light 3-4S alarm is US$26 + $6 postage. I do paypal and post world-wide (over 450 in 25 countries so far).
I do get busy but try to have them made and shipped within a day or two. I am a hobbiest - not a shop. Occasionally they take until the weekend...

More details with photos are in my website. PM me if you have any questions - but check out my FAQ on my site :http://efliernz.googlepages.com/faq%27s

Many thanks to those who have given feedback and supported me over the last two years .
