I recently put an esky 3-in-1 and a spektrum ar6100e rx in the FP so I can fly with my DX6I. I dont not have a HH gyro on this bird and was wondering if any of you have messed with the revo mixing program on the DX6I and can give me some pointers ?

It seems nothing changes when I make adjustments. Is this something like I have to unplug the batt everytime like when adjusting the proportional?

I ran my AR6100 with my Blade CP's 3in1. It worked great. You set the revo mixing on the 3in1 not in the radio. Yes, you need ton disconnect the power when making this adjustment. The pot is very sensitive and I found that it required the tiniest movement to get it centered.

I think the proportional pot setting that you speak of on the 3-in-1 is a different animal than revo mixing in the dx6i ????

Correct. The POT on the 3in1 IS for the revo mixing. You set it on the 3in1, not the radio.

 I'm setting it in the radio (dx6i)

I don't think you are going to be able to do that. The revo mixing function is handled within the 3 in 1 control. The revo mixing (or proportional control as some manuals describe it) controls the mix of throttle input to the two motors (main and tail motor). One side of the mixer goes to the ESC for the main motor. The other side of the mixer goes to the rate gyro for the tail. The output of the rate gyro then drives the tail motor.

With the Rx you have a rudder input which logicically controls the rate gyro in the 3 in 1, not the proportial mix between the main and tail motors. You might be able to fine tune the mix with the revo mix on the radio. But first I think you'd need get it set next to perfect on the 3in1. Then if you notice the tail drifting one way on power up and the other way on power down, start adding a little mix in the radio and see if it helps. Used this way, its more of an auto-rudder trim setting than proportional mix/revo mix setting. I know it sounds like they are the same thing, the difference where the input is in relation to the gyro. SInce the 3in1 components can't be seperated you can't "replace" the revo function without replacing the 3in1.

Sorry, I wasnt clear. Thats exactly what I did, first on 3-in-1 and fine tune with revo in the radio.
