Here is a thought I am going to get rid of the 6 pin Futabass cheezy connector and use a JR connector.

The mod works great

Can you post some pics of what you did?

I will work on that. I have another connector and I'll take pics of each step, there aren't to many.

I used Radio Shack # 274-248. Remove Xtal, battery and housing screws. Looking at the board make a mental note of pins you need to use from left-right 1,2,3, second row left-right 4,5,6 After desoldering all pins on Futaba 6 pin connector remove and clean remaining solder off with desoldering wick or solder sucker (care must be taken not to heat solder pads to much they will lift)

1) Clip both solder rings off of the bottom, leaving the sleeve solder ring intact.
2) Clip the sides off leaving a pin that can be inserted through the holes on the
board.
3)Using a needle nose pliers slightly bend leads inward.
4) Then bend leads straight, leaving a slight offset (slight adjustment may be necessary to get pins to fit through holes on board).
5) Insert connector with the tip pin into hole 1 SNG and the ring pin into 6 (since this is not used it is just used to stabilize the connector on the board) the orientation of the sleeve should be in the bottom right corner, solder a piece of wire (20AWG) to the sleeve solder ring route around board and solder through hole 2, this is the GND, care must be taken that wire cannot protrude into the connector, you may want to do this step first before soldering in the connector that way you can flush trim any excess off.

Takes less than 5 minutes.

That's a little over the top isn't it? The problems with the Futaba connector and Phoenix are due to the awg30 wire they use in the adapter more so than the square connector Futaba uses itself. (Although I will give you that the connector is silly).

Good and (pretty)simple improvement,
The Futaba connection is a little outdated and fragile when you use it alot IMO.
Mine is also showing signs it wil break from the Tx board pretty soon.
