The ends don't looked pinned to me. I guess you could drill a hole and pin it yourself though -- I don't trust glue-ons...

I'd rather invest in a more general purpose product like:

I think the bubble levels will give you better results as well...

You can cut down Trex 600 supports also.

I posted this in my thread on tips and lessons learned.

.... if those boom support rods are the quoted size then they are pretty short for the Hurricane.

220mm for the CF rod? Standard Hurricane boom supports are 375mm.

god i should really take notice of things like this when i order stuff! (i never really looked at the length i just ordered 2 sets:o) and if they are that short they shouldn't be listed as a hurricane 550 upgrade as they are far too short!

i have some 4mm CF stock here so i can replace the CF tubes with the correct length if needs be but i shouldn't have to :arggg:

Well I hope is a misprint but I fear this might be strike 2 for Helidirect...

I only looked to see what gauge CF they were using, thinking I could knock some up (I have lots of lengths of CF tube and rod)... and when I saw the 4x220mm it raised alarm bells...

isn't there a member of the freak that also works for helidirect? i'd be nice if he would chime in to either say it's a typo or it's the truth. i was psyched for a second, the stock aluminum tubes are way too flimsy.

well they have arrived, and they are in fact only 220mm long, how they can think these are any use for the hurricane 550 i do not know! and on top of that i ordered 2 sets of silver and they sent 2 sets of blue  so not only did they get the pictures the wrong way round on their site they got them the wrong way round in my order too!. well hopefully i'll get a decent response to my email

helidirect should send you a prepaid postage return label and make this right. give you a refund so you can order from readyheli.

steve from helidirect has been in touch with me and he is making this mistake right for me, the boom supports were wrongly labeled as H550 parts and have already been taken down from the hurricane 550 upgrade parts page on the helidirect site!

it's nice to know that their service is good when needed

i figured they'd make good on it. glad to hear it's getting worked out. i've got my eye on those fusino FG canopys they've got. sweet looking to say the least, but after hearing about a freak member ordered two of them and they showed up disfigured i'm not so sure anymore. maybe i'll just get one of the scratched ones. i'm painting a plasic 550 canopy right now, i'll be sure to post pics when it's done so you all can laugh!

yeah UKGroucho's 2 canopies, my canopy and GatoVolador's canopy were all damaged during shipping, i think the best bet if you want to order one is choose one of the more expensive shipping options to make sure it arrives undamaged, either that or buy one of the scratch and dent ones as you say.

good luck on painting your canopy, i'm considering sanding down my damaged fusino canopy to try my hand at re-painting, as it's damaged i'm not worried about messing it up lol. there's a great howto thread on thetrexforums on painting canopies, a bit advanced for me but full of good tips none the less :) >> http://www.thetrexforums.com/?topic=3267.0

LIke I said, buy a set of Trex 600 supports and cut them down. Works nicely.

i'll have pics of my canopy tonight, after i spray the windshield. it's just a shitty rattle can job. i've still yet to take out my new ( and very cheap!) airbrush to try it out. also the paint i'm using is pactra polycarbonate paint that is 10+ years old. i guess it was either use it or lose it.

My wife ordered a canopy for me and it arrived cracked as well.. I chose to keep it because I don't want to go through the hassle.. It's sucks tho.. Besides, I was so anxious for it to arrive and don't want to wait for another so I drilled the air and anchor holes and called it a day.. not cool tho...
