I've about had it with this radio....
I cannot figure out how to setup the GV-1 to work via Flight mode switch, and have it not go to the gear switch where my gyro is assigned.
I've been looking at this 2 lb. sledge hammer in my shop all day and am wondering what kind of hang time the parts will have?
Help is appreciated.

Wayne,
What you are probably missing is enabling the governor mode. With your transmitter off press and hold the "ENT" button and turn on your transmitter. Use the roller to select "Device SEL" and push on the roller. Now roll the roller until the highlighted area is on the bottom row directly under the "GEAR" column. Then press the roller until "GOV" shows. Next press "ENT" and roll to "GOVERNOR" and push the roller and there you go.
Now you need to plug your governor into ch 5 and your gyro into ch 7. With your gyro plugged into ch 7 you can set it up using any of several switches again in the SYSTEMS menu and going to "AUX2"

I got it enabled, but I can't get it to select RPM modes, and I only want one switch to turn it on, and select 1750, and 1800 without moving my gyro to another switch.
It seems you are having the gyro rate assign to Aux2, but how can you assign Aux2 to ACT on ch 5 sw with something else on ch 5 in Rx?
I'm really fubar-ed in the head here...

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can. I have my Gyro set up on the rudder dual rate switch and the gyro is plugged into ch 7 or AUX2. My governor is plugged into ch 5 but it is controlled by AUX3 which I've assigned to the AUX 2 switch. The "GEAR" swich is inactive.

Okay, Now I can get the governor to show all modes, got the limits set...
I spooled it up between rain drops and the tail went nuts...
Moving the gyro from the gear channel to accomodate the gov has left me without a place to plug the rate lead from the gyro.
gyro is GY 501.
gonna read awhile, and see if anything comes to me.

Okay, on the bench it works!
I found that manually setting my GY 501 was too much of a PITA with the canopy screws, so I dug in the books. I found that I had some cross mixing between AUX 2 and AUX 4.
End result, I turned off all mixes and AUX 4. Moved the Gyro remote lead to AUX 2, and enabled the rudder D/R switch to select AVCS and normal.
At least I can adjust gain from AUX 2 ATV, and I think that's what I need.
Thanks to Bob and Rodney for the help!!
