I got a bunch of 430 blades, 6S FP2500s, 5245 servos, extra CC ESCs and BECs for the Trex 500.
2,800 rpm seems to be a great headspeed for the Trex 500, I think it would be close to the same for the Logo 400.
Any thoughts on motors, gearing, and controllers for the new Logo?
Also the 9257 (1520uSec /333Hz) seems to be the best tail servo choice.

John,
I will be looking at using a 80-6-18 ESC on this heli. I have a Scorpion 3026-1400 and 1600 series to try as well a Orbit 15-10HeliExpert on request.
Being this is a 200MT gear at .5 pitch the Logo 10 pinions will work a dandy and they are up to 23 tooth as well.

Near as I can tell the 15-10 is a 1555kV motor and a 19T looks good. I hope it is 6S compatible.

I heard word it should be a dandy. There will be a few more tailored motors as well, not to worry.

If its lighter, and I know it will be with the V-Stabi, than my HDX then the Z-20-1470 motor is going to be a lot of fun. Even if for only 4 minutes, the HDX flys around like its pissed and wants to kill something. I was going to V-bar that heli, but I may hold off now.

Any particular reason? I've had 0 problems with the HB on my 500...

Ive read toooo many chaps stripping the main becouse of set up............
ive heard of 2, maybe 3 only on forums, but i can assure you that there have been thousands of them sold, so a 1/1000 chance? i think i could handle that

I can not say 100% but I am 90%+ that the 400 gearing is straight cut anyways. I do think you will be able to use the Mod.5 Logo 10 pinions on this machine. I do suspect we will know a ton more here in the next few days as the Nurnburg toy fair is today folks.

it just looks like an updated logo10; what's the big whoop all about?

Same big whoop as a downscaled T600 maybe ;)
I like the looks of this new Logo10 btw.

maybe :) but isn't it the same size?

Logo 10 3D:
Main rotor diameter.: 1150 mm
Rotor Blades:
Length: 980 mm
Tail rotor diameter: 215 mm
Battery: 4S to 6S LiPoly
Gear ratio main rotor: 8:1 – 20:1; Mod. 0.5
Weight: 2.0 kg and up
Logo 400
Rotor diameter: 1040mm
Rotor blades: 430 mm
Length: unknown
Tail rotor diameter: unknown
Battery: 4S to 6S lipo cells
Gear ratio main rotor: 1:7.7 to 1:15.3; Mod. 0.5 •
Weight: 1750 g and up
Frames look pretty similar, modified injection moulds maybe...
Seems they lost some weight, canopy, blades, and maybe different (lighter)plastics.
Who knows, maybe a succesfull makeover.
It sure looks better :D

How true is that? LOL
They say JK designs the different and new t-rexes but honestly there is 0% new about the 500, it is only a shrunk 600, that is all it is. I do now this, I have one.
Shawn,
You obviously have never designed a helicopter before. You can not just take a cad drawing and "shrink" it. Every single part has to be redesigned and modified. Of course the concepts are similiar and familiar...or it wouldn't be a T-REX.
I'm very interested to see the new LOGO 400, especially with a 10mm mainshaft and 8mm spindle! I'm pretty sure that is the same size we use on our 600's. Seems to be a bit overkill. I'm excited to see more machines of this size, I personally think it is the perfect size.

Just means its crash proof for people like me :YeaBaby:

Or it means that you'll be replacing other parts besides main shaft and spindle.

Kyna is right, I chatted with Jason about this and he said he at first just scaled down the 600 head parts. Once they flew it, they found out it was all wrong. They had already made the molds, but they scrapped them and made new ones to try new geometry. Talk about a fun job, I'm so jealous I could throw a tantrum...
Obviously they will continue using the concepts that have worked for them and add new refinements on each machine. It's an iterative process. Mikado is the same. When was the last time you saw a completely new logo head design? (Other than the v-bar obviously ;) )

Actually I am a CAD engineer......
And you can perfectly resize any 2 or 3D entity...
But as Fogger already mentioned, it doesn't work that way ;)
Was not trying to trigger something here
It's always a lot of work to design something new.
If you call it a T-rex 500 or a Logo 400....
Nice to see this many new developments BTW :)

Me too :) First system I used was Cadkey 7, then SDRC I-deas on a unix box, through to rev 8m3 on a pc, then Autodesk Inventor for about 5 or 6 revisions up to version 9, and now I drive Pro-E Wildfire2. Fun stuff.

Yeah fun stuff indeed!
Worked with all Autodesk apps, unigraphics solid edge, solid works etc.
But drafting is just a part off the job, I have the privilege to have a job i like doing..
RC Helicopters in general have all technical aspects I'm interested in, makes it a great hobby :)

You are 100% correct Kyna I have never designed a helicopter before, nor would I liklely be able to to be honest, so yes kudos to jk for having that talent as well. I am sure you can not simply take a CAD design and shrink it, I am not saying you can. However that in reality is what the 500 rex appears to be to me is all. Nothing negative to the fact as it flies well so don't take that wrong please, the machine is good. But side by side to a 600 rex it is well, almost identical, just smaller "in my opiniojn". The Logo 400 of course "from what I have seen" appears to be a mash between a Logo 10 and other already in use Mikado parts. I don't see it as an all new heli at all either. That being said they did shrink it "somewhat ie: Logo 10 baseline" and use parts from the existing line, therefore in my opinion basically same new model method or similar to Aligns way. I just don't agree with it being said that the 500 rex or even the logo 400 for that matter are completely re designed or whole new concepts is all, they are not. When the Logo 500 and 600 came out, those were a whole new concept, entriley different frames and components than the previous Logo 10 or 14, therefore those deserved the "whole new deisgn" tag and could be credited better imho than many models today. All imho of course, be well.
P.S. And yes I do agree this is a great size not to small to worry about wind and small enough yet to pack for those small field flying days. :) I think this year the 425 class will be a winner of any brand really.

Not sure I agree Shawn, the new logo 500/600 frame design is for sure new, and really quite innovative if you ask me; also the herringbone gear design; but the rest, tail, head, etc, is from what I can tell exactly the same as the older mikados... So that is also not qualification for the "whole new design" title imo.
