freaks,

i am using the hyperion 80a opto esc with a external castle creations 10a ccbec and the instructions to the to the bec state that you connect the esc reciever connector to throttle channel(ch. 3) and the bec receiver connector to a auxilary channel. my problem is that the receiver i am using is the futaba 146ip which means that i will not have the extra channel i need to connect the bec to the reciever. can i use a jr y-harness with or with out filter to plug both the esc and bec to the throttle channel?

sorry the thread is so long but this is the best way i could explain it

You can use a Y harness to install the bec. No need for one with a filter. What i did was combine my 401 gail lead wire into my bec connector to avoid adding extra wires.

I believe you can if you get the wiring correct. I have seen people do this on other helis running seperate BECs. Take the connector from the ESC and plug in just the signal wire (middle one) then from the BEC plug in the two outer wires (positive and negative). Join all three wires into one connector and you have both using just one channel on your receiver.

There is ony problem though, I thought about using the CC BEC on my lepton as well until I talked to Castle.
"If you use the CC BEC in a heli, then we recomend you split the servo lead coming off the BEC to TWO lines going to your receiver. The reason for this is the wire/connector coming off the BEC is only rated for 5amps, you need two lines and two connectors to get the full 10amps and prevent a receiver brownout."
There is a workaround I found to this, but I decided to go with a different BEC before trying it. JR/Servo City says that their 'Heavy Duty' servo leads will support a 10amp load. I was thinking of removing the factory lead off the BEC and installing one of these Heavy Duty ones so I wouldn't have to run dual connections. You may want to try this since you are limited on channels on your receiver.
