I find the stock motor bogs a lot, so I am looking at the Z30A-1110 to put in my stock hurri. Is there a concise list of parts I should be replacing to handle the added power? Also what is the best pinion gear to use for 2100-2200 hs?

Get the Gaui "OK" gears and alu motor mount. Thats all you need.
Run the 15T pinion.

Don't try to run 2200mha batts with the Z30, it will kill them. I'm running the Z20A-980 and it's making my 2200 KongPower's cry so I am looking to up grade my batteries to 3s1p 3200mha soon. I'll be sticking with the Z20A because I like to fly more than 4 to 5 minutes and at this point in my skill level, the Z30 is not necessary.

BD...

The 980 is hard on your 2200's ? What pinion are you using...15t or 16t ?

I'm using 2500's and they work great, just ordered hextronic 2200's to see how they will work....just curious. your the first person that has said the 980 was hard on lipos...

What's your set up?

thx

Four of my older FlightPowers are just not up to par and can't maintain voltage and I puffed two of them. Two of my newer FlightPowers seem to be doing ok as long as I keep my flight time down to five minutes. I thought my KongPowers were doing ok but my last time out I flew for five minutes and they were not too warm and the cell voltage was around 3.65 to 3.7 volts per cell. When I got home and starting to charge them, one of the KongPower's cell voltage had dropped to 3.3 to 3.4 volts and my TP-1010 did not want to charge it. I was able to charge it on my DN charger from ReadyHeli but I have not flown since then. Per KongPower, it should be ok so I will have to see how it does next time out.

I'm running a 14T and no 3D but lots of FF with hard turns. Very entertaining :)

Edit: I have an eLogger on my T-Rex 450 but not on my Gaui. I really need to get one.

Thanks for the help!

This heli was purchased recently, it has the 'OK' gears and the motor mount supports the first gear's shaft, is there a another motor mount that I will need? It does have the stock 15T.

I am not planning to run over 85 percent power, at least not yet, i just want to maintain head speed and not get bogged when I do punch the cyclic, I am running 3300 mah packs.

So far this is what I have changed out, cnc elevator lever and cnc flybar cage. I am adding the cnc swashpate guide as I feel that the plastic elevator arm is not strong enough to hold the swash plate, specially at a crash or a hard blade strike. Maybe Gaui should have had at least a plastic guide to help support the swash and keeping the levers from getting all f'd up. Seems like some of these things that I have done on it are necessities rather than upgrades, IMHO. I love this heli and I am really enjoying flying it, its just under powered.

Is the plastic blade grips strong enough for the Z30?

What is the best Revco gear to use for longest flight time? I can change out the gear when I really need all the power from the Z30.

If you are planning to run over 2K headspeed (sound like you are) I highly recommend changing the plastic grip to CNC.

Hi!
You have a plastic frame? If you use a Z30 be aware of cracks around the motor mount. You already changed all parts to version 2 Hurricane?
Another nice alternative with a lot of power but saves power against a Gaui with 1,5kW is a Z20A with KV1700 needs more power than the 980kV Z20 but holds rpm better. Motor pinion should be at least 13, better 12...

I don't know if its a version V2? but this is the stock kit, plastic head, plastic frame, updated 'OK' gears and motor mount, I have the 8mm gear on the one way bearing.

I flew again today and prolly can cook with stock motor, my 3300 packs just warm with 5 minutes of flight, didn't want to push the battery. I did test my 20c 2200 packs for 3 minutes and its :smokin:

2 sets of 3300 is just not enough to fulfill the itch to fly :(.
