From MA...

NOTE: Effective Immediately all X-Cell helicopter kits will include aluminum tail booms as standard equipment. Graphite tail booms will be available only as an optional component.

Did they notice that something was wrong or is it just a way for them to increase their profit?

Well, the aluminum boom will be cheaper to replace. Seems odd they're doing this to the Stratus though since it was built to be light weight.

And the question is..... do the torque tube bearing carriers fit?

Why wouldn't the dimensions be the same? MA already sold the aluminum boom for a while now anyway.

By the way, it seems that there's no way to get a brand new Stratus canopy... (122-90)... :-(

The aluminum boom will be much cheaper to replace.
You will still be able to get the CF boom if you like.

Usually the inner dia of aluminum tube compared to carbon fiber is different. I didn't know if this was the case.

I'm sorry Ray, it seems as we posted at the same time. My post was in reference to the 'no canopy'.

True, but the carriers have o-rings around them so a slight difference shouldn't matter to much.

On my Vario Acrobatic, which has a 25.4mm aluminum tail boom was a problem once. I received a replacement tail boom that was slightly smaller on the ID. Must have been manufacturing tolerance or a small batch, who knows. Anyway, it was almost impossible trying to get the o-rings to compress and slide in without the coming out of the carrier grooves. Plenty of lube didn't help.

Just thinking out loud. Miniature does have a different carrier design that may be more forgiving.

They had some canopies for the Stratus last week. They were putting them in kits. A painter that is local to MA was told he could get a few Stratus canopies to paint. You might try ordering one from the website and see if they have them.
