You will need two "dongles" for it to work on two computers at the same time... You CAN install it on two computers, but then you can only use it one at a time with the proprietary "dongle" that came with Phoenix.

the software anti piracy in phoenix IS the dongle so if you want to use 2 at the same time you need two sims.

so really you paying for the dongle and get a free CD and box :-)

to put it simply... no you cant.

...... And I prefer this form of anti-piracy over RealFlights pain in the ass registration, deregistration crap.

Isn't he is asking "Can I pirate Phoenix?"

I read his question more like an idea about multi-player, not that it works like that.

Ive read other posts about used copies and spare copies that were definitely saying " Can I pirate this". I didnt take this post that way, but maybe thats because I always look for the good in people.:)

Not necessarily. I just got this sim and everytime that I try to practice on it, my 5 year old wants to play it too. It is to the point now that he wants to 'play' with it all the time and so I have to 'fight' him for it. He uses it more than I do now. Once I let him on it, it's very hard to tell him to stop. I may even get him a radio for it cause he is hard on my X9303, I cringe every time I hear the sticks snap when he lets them go. He's treating it like the PS2/3 controllers. I try to explain it to him that it is not like his PS3 controller and that it is very expensive and that he should be careful. He's really good at doing what I've told him but then I guess he forgets when he's 'caught at the moment' and forgets about being careful. He enjoys crashing and gets a big kick of doing so. Most times he would call me excitedly and show me a 'cool' crash. I tell him that it is not so cool to crash and that keeping it in the air while keeping it from crashing is cooler. He likes fixed wings for now for their 'friendliness' to fly, I guess.

Currently, I have the software installed in my laptop and my desktop. My other son has his own computer and I'm thinking about installing it there too and thought of buying an additional dongle just so I can put stick time to it without being rushed and bugged. I can have my sons have their own sim so they won't bother me. From reading this thread, if I want to do this, I have to buy an additional sim? And my question is, if this is the case, then why is there an option to buy an additional dongle when placing an order if this can't be done? I must say though that even if I have to buy an additional sim, it would still be a lot cheaper than buying my sons their 'own' helis. With that, what is the 'cheapest' radio can I buy for the Phoenix?

"what is the 'cheapest' radio can I buy for the Phoenix?"

I purchased the phoneix too and have the same question.

That depends. Phoenix will work with any tx that has a trainer port including the Esky tx. Some switches might have to be assigned to keys, but besides that it will work. If your asking whats the cheapest that will work with Phoenix and you can use on a heli, well the DX7 is hard to beat right now. Inexpensive but will do everything you need it to do with a heli.

I'd look for people selling off older radios like original DX6. We know they work and with the DX6i and DX7 out, I'd bet some guys will let them go cheap. I did a search on the word 'radio' in the Electronics - Radios, Servos, Gyros, etc (http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=51) for sale section here on HF. Got 250 hits. Worth a look.

Oh yeah, and for ROne21's kids: Why not tell 'em to put $25 in a jar every time they have a cool crash. It'll make flying a heli sim a lot less like a video game and much more like the real thing.:rolling

There is an option to buy an additional ADAPTER, not dongle. The adapter is needed for non-JR radios to connect to the trainer port.

Another option is to pick up a different sim like Real Flight or XTR that people are selling off when they buy Phoenix. And most come with a simple controller. Fine for the kids.
