Had a brown out today while I was hovering inverted about a foot off the ground. No control on anything and it just sat there hovering for about 4 seconds before going in blades first. Nothing worked.. throttle hold did nothing and it still sat there hovering while throttle hold was turned on. Anyway.. for those that were having brownout issues that later switched to a seperate BEC, did the issues go away? Which bec did u use and did you you just switch to a seperate BEC or did you also switch to a different ESC as well?

I am wondering what type of liabilities align could get themselves into with this brown out issue. Here is a situation where some one loses total control just hovering and what you have is an instant weapon. I know that this situation has been made aware to align, and they continue to deny that there is anything wrong. I personally called this week and that was the party line I got. Instead of being proactive and sending out email notifying us that they recognize the problem and perhaps advise us to stop flying until they come up with a solution, they bury there head in the sand look the other way. Its all fine until some one gets hurt and lawyers get involved.

I for one am not flying the 500 until they come out with an official fix, Align must bear there share of responsibility, especially $560.00 a pop. It's not our job to figure out their problem.

I just got back from my first two flights using the SportBEC. I am happy to report that everything went flawlessly! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/BBates/Thread%20Animation/thumbsup.gif Orginally, my 500 flew great for the first three flights then I had a "lockout" or whatever everyone is calling them. These are my first flights since then. I had to wait on replacement servo cases for 2 weeks.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/BBates/Thread%20Animation/mad5.gif. I also went ahead and grounded both the motor plate and the tail boom to the negative on the ESC.

With the SportBEC you don't have to pull out any wires, it disconnects the red wire from your ESC internally.. Just plug your ESC into one side then plug the wire from the SportBEC into your throttle channel. Very simple to install and remove.

Is anyone familiar with the problems the Spektrum users with high end digital servo's were having with the stock 3amp BEC on the Align 600? From what I read the servo's would pull too many amps and this would shut the RX down so it would need to rebind. This would cause a crash if I understand correctly. Is this "brownout" problem something similar?

The Hurcules HC bec is made just for 2.4 systems that are drawing alot of power. I used the stock ESc with the red wire heat srinked out the way:YeaBaby:

I can see that you are using Pete's Li-Po alarm. :-)

Are you happy with it?
I have installed a LED&Piezo alarm on my T-500, and I am extremely happy with mine so far.

It also looks as if you have been a little rough on the stock bullet connectors. They suck - big-time. :arggg:
(I replaced mine, and now I can finger install them)

I changed mine to a Jazz 55-10-32 and Castle BEC. Saved weight too. That Align ESC is sure a "husky" piece of equipment. However, more cost though to use a $280.00 ESC and a $25.00 ESC. I quess the Align 60 Amp. will go in a Plank.

If you "pull" the wire, then it's an antenna...shrink wrap or not....

It's a receiving antenna with respect to the ESC......and it's a transmitting antenna with respect to your avionic equipment.....

Don't just shrink wrap it...terminate it
