Hi all...just joined the logo 500 club. About halfway though the build (thanks Finless). So far I've got the hacker with a Jazz 80 and Hercules BEC. What I'm not sure about exactly is battery, blades, and servos.

I'm wondering if the JR DS821 servos would be ok for entry level 3d (loops, rolls, flips, inverted)? I've got them but don't have to use them if there are better or safer options.

I've got a set of 520 carbons but from what I read they might be small. Should I get some 550's?

I'm leaning toward Evolite 5000's but wonder if they are too heavy? I want 5 min minimum in the lightest configuration possible as I assume coming from giant gas planes that lighter will fly better.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations....and btw the Logo is amazingly well engineered as you all know...I've read it many times but until you build one...well you know.

The servos will work for simple flying but you would outgrow them quickly so it would be best to just try to sell them and invest in other servos with a least 120 oz-in and a faster speed. I'm running the BLS451 for cyclic and they are really nice, smooth, and fast. They also require less current than the JR8717; which are probably a bit overkill for the L500. The Futaba S9452 are also good and a bit cheaper.

I think you would be fine with 520mm blades for now and get decent flying times - ~6-7 minutes on 6S 5000mAh at 2200+ RPM. 550mm blades will have more pop but might be a little slower in cyclic until you increase head speed to ~2300. The L500 can also take a high amount of cyclic range to give you even more. Right now I've got +/-13 pitch and +/-7.5 cyclic.

For batteries, the EVOlite 6S 5350 (700g) is performing really well (got two of them) but a EVO25 5000 would be good also (~740g) and give a bit more room under the pinion. So far I'm staying away from the TP V2 just because of mixed reviews on capability but others can chime in on that.

I really like my 515 Rotortech blades - gives much more zing and less draw on the battery (I think the 550s I tried were cheap cr@p though). I've been using EVO 25 4350s which gives a good 6 min flight time and have also had good results with the EVO 25 5000 - dying to try the EVO Lites
