well I been flying electrics for 5 years , and all I can say about this heli is, it scares me to death , I never flew anything 3D before , because they never had the power , I have a fury conversion , but I just flew it , thanks to the sim during the long winter days and MA for producing a heli that is exceptional in every way , and if you get one , you better hang on , talking about a hair standing , finger shaking , nuts sorbing , eye poping , mouth open good time , then you will love this heli.
roll rate from he!! ,
specks are ,
Ion with actro airplane version motor and motor mount , 9.5 to 1 , esc schulze 40-70 , batteries gen 2 10s3ps , prolites are waiting , tempest 3D head , TG 690 tapers , 9252 on swash , 401-9254 , titanium self made main shaft , titanium control rods through out the whole head to the servos , flight time 7 to 8 minutes with the lite setup , 10s4ps should get me 10 minutes ,

I had the same rush the first time I flew the Voyager "E", and still get excited moving it around with the training gear wich is coming off on my next flight.
What does she sound like after she is spun up to lift off speed? :?: What head speed do you use on a Machine like that? :?:
Great to see you finally got to get that project in the air.

Hey thats what I call one great Night Fly at 2:00 AM. Sounds awsome and you definately have the power to handle the battery weight. Karl sure knows how to put it through a test, great flying. How long does it take to charge your packs, I'm flying with 3s3p 6000 pro lites and get 21 minutes on the VE and it takes 1 hr 15 minutes to recharge. I now have 4 packs so I get lots of time in the air.

It was a little windy here todau so I left it on for one more flight an as luck would have it I lost perspective of the Heli up about 20 feet and crashed.
Main Blades, Tail Boom and Intermediate Gear. About $65.00. :(

dang , I hate it when you loose perspective of a heli , one thing that helped me in not looseing perspective was the sim , if you just get on there and do it till you cant stand it any longer , will help you big time out in the field , it teaches you to think ahead of what while you fly , when you get to the point where you react instead of thinking then you will have way better control,

I have just put my sim to 1 1/2 normal speed to make me think faster. I need to go up when I get into trouble rather than try to fix the problem nearer to the place where gravity stops :D . I have been neglecting my sim time as I was doing so well with the VE. Thanks for the help Tony as I listen to any advice I get.
Have you been flying the T Rex? Have you seen the new Swift that is coming out in the fall?

the Trex has been on the back burner since I started flying the Ion, well except my new funtana 40 , just got it the other day and slapped on a 91 4 stroke on there and man what a plane , Im thinking about converting it to electric though ,

I second the "sim time till you're sick" as a great way to maintain orientation. I have learned that your eyes can fool you and it's better to remember in your mind's eye what position your heli was last in by your last stick position or manouver was and not what you think it looks like in the sky.

I still have trouble with the Heli being so small on the monitor, it is lost in the sky very quickly if I am flying away from myself.

well bring it up closer to the ground , it wont cost a thing except the time to load up another heli on the sim ,
did you get the V back going ?

Back in the air today, high winds again today so I stayed up around 5 foot high and left the training gear on. A week on the ground seems so long. Our club is having a Fun Fly this weekend an got to see Boboo flying his Ion.

What a great piece of machinery, I can see why you enjoy the thrill of flying yours.
