So, I'm standing on the precipice of a 10S Logo 600...
I keep going back and forth on using a straight 10S pack, or two 5S packs. Thus, this poll.
What do you fly/recommend?
TIA,
John

John, both work. The 10s is less hassle for me. On the flipside, if you damage a pack you will still have one good 5s.

what is the most efficient way to connect the two 5S packs to the ESC - is it better to use some kind of series connector and then connect to ESC or use a jumper on the ESC and connect each battery separately??
Thanks,
Jeff

I use bullet connectors so its a bit easier to wire things in series. In the stick configuration you would need an extension to reach the front where the esc is. Kind of a pain to deal with this is why I run the stick. Using 2 5s packs is easier in the raptor due to the esc/motor placement.

Problem with two sep packs is well, there is not anything I know of that uses a 5S anymore and provides a big bang. If there were that certainly would be in my recipe as well.

I fly my Logo 10-3D using two 3S Thunder Power 4200 Pro Lite packs in series (6S), and fly my Logo 600 on single 10S Flight Power 4350 packs. Which system do I like better? The single pack version. Why? Less things to plug and unplug each flight and charge sequence. Even when you charge the two 3S packs from a single charger in series (as a 6S), you still need two balancers for each "pack". And when you have two "packs" in the charge sequence at one time (happen to me all the time), that requires four balancers. Lots of things to plug, unplug and mess with each flight.
True, having two separate batteries to make up a flight pack allows you to replace (meaning buy a new @ new prices), one of the two batteries should one be damaged or go bad. BUT. Both TP and FP will usually (they have for me anyways, and others have had the same experience), replace a damaged or bad battery out of warranty for about half the price of a new one. So, do the math. Cost in the end is about the same, and the single pack version is a lot less hassle (not to mention the savings in balancers if you don't already have what you need).
Good luck. Dave Dahl.

Ticidytoc,
Yep, that's the way to do it  if your batteries aren't mounted on a plate in tandom, in which case the balancer pigtales won't reach a single balancer. Lots of ways to approach the problem.
One other thing that would tip the scale towards two 5S batteries; most places don't stock the 10S packs (and if they do they probably don't stock a bunch of 'em), as they are expensive to have in inventory, and I'd imagine the demand is small compared to other LiPo's. Everyone has the 5S packs in stock however. Makes getting a battery when you want it right "now" much easier.

I mounted a pair of FP 5S 5000mAh packs on a carbon plate and strapped them down with fibre-reinforced tape. The wiring loom stays attached to the packs permanently, and the balancer connectors are close together so I can charge the packs as a single 10S unit.
The power leads come out of the sides of the packs and need to be strapped tightly, otherwise they'll prevent the complete unit from sliding into the frame.
Also the balancer leads need to be tidied away for the same reason - I tuck one set of leads into the gap under and between the packs, and the other set of leads goes over and between the packs, held in place with an elastic band.
It works fine, but IMHO it's not worth the bother. I'll be buying 10S packs in future. Go for a 10S pack if you have the option.

Thanks for all the input, folks . That's a pretty close poll, however.
I think I'm going to go with convenience over crash-worthiness at this point. Having found the doubling up of 3S packs for my T-Rex 500 just a little annoying, I can only see this as worse.

th3tick,
I'm using 2 6s packs in my L14. Nice thing now is that I want to use them in my MSH to be. So, maybe you can use your 5s 3700 packs in your T500? Or maybe later a L400/500. It just makes it more flexible for me.
