Alternative blades for Esky Lama V4?

We are running out of spare blades for my son's V4. Has anyone tried using Hirobo XRB blades? Will they fit? I can get them but the Esky stuff isn't "officially" imported in Japan.

google "lama v4 extreme blades". these are made of a harder plastic and last quite long, even when crashed into things. i got two full sets for $20 shipped. i believe it was from www.xheli.com (http://www.xheli.com)

I use the helimax axe EZ blades...these are stiffer and more durable.

Go for the extreme blades!
multiple hits (even mid-air collisions) and only some scratches.

Blades are around 10 dollar (upper and lower).

I highly recommend that you encapsulate the remaining blades in thin packing tape! Just use the wide tape, lay sticky side up on the table, lay the blade (leading edge in the middle of the tape) and fold. Be careful to not crease or bubble the tape! It works wonders! I went through how many sets for my Comanche? Even hitting my leather boots shattered a set! Since I "encapsulated", I've hit the wall, a chair, the wardrobe etc etc and I still have the same set of blades on!

There is the issue of the shatter-prone blades being sacrificial, but the nice thing about the Lama regarding this particular point is the hinge blade holder system, which, I believe helps to protect other parts further down the line a great deal.

btw Flight characteristics didn't alter at all.

The packing tape method works surprisingly well when you're trying to stretch your last remaining set until spares arrive... but when you order, get Xtreme (the correct spelling - I believe some places sell poor quality knock-offs under the Extreme name). The helicopter will feel more responsive and the blades can take incredible punishment without damage.

Miracle Mart is a great source for the blades and other Lama spares - and if your motors have a lot of hours in them, you might want to take a look at the Xtreme motors too. More power, longer life, and the brushes can be replaced when they wear out.

I gots lots of packing tape. Will do that for now and look into these X-treme blades later.

That is if my son starts showing more interest in it. If not "I' might go carbon, brushless and blinged aluminum everwhere... Wait! What am I thinking???

tz250w, please do not worry unduly about your present condition. It's known as "Helicoptitis" and has so far been documented as being responsible for nothing more than dwindling bank accounts and slightly peculiar behaviour in the predominantly adult male section of the human race. Symptoms often break out in the male of surprisingly advanced age which would lead to believe that the disease has something to do with the old one about "going back to long lost childhood". The disease is everything but dangerous and has led to tight "bonding" of certain subjects possessing surprisingly high IQ's and, paradoxically, an otherwise very pronounced independent spirit. The only known treatment is W.A.S.P, a new and rather revolutionary technique presently being tested by a rather sad and sorry lot of escapees from a very different and repressive/eliminative heli site.
