I have a huge field about a mile from me that doesn't have easy car access. I got the idea of trying a bike mount.
This simple setup held the heli very secure, with no rattles at all.
The flying was near-by & perfect!
What I ended up with was so simple: I epoxied several wooden "door shims" to get the perfect thickness to wedge between my bike rack & 500 skids. They are very strong & flexible & not brittle. They work great to hold the trex 500 perfectly rigid & upright on the rack. Then I put the TX & 3 battery packs in my daypack. I wrapped the thin end of the shims with a couple wraps of tight mini bungee, so there is no way the shims can vibrate loose (at least on a short ride like mine- and one of the 2 shims holds the heli fine- so it's redundant security.

First I tried making a big rectangle of thin plywood for a long heli & TX mount with raised bars to keep the skids in one place, but putting this on top of my rack made the 500 too high- it interfered with my seat.
