I'll be coming to Phoenix this weekend for a bike race and was thinking about bringing the Logo 600. I've seen a couple of fields on Google Earth. Anyone flying or have reccomendations.

Hi John,
We fly in Chandler at Thude Park. It is a water retention basin for the local freeway system. Here is a google map showing the location. We call it the Chandler bowl for R/C flying. There is no club and is self policed by the R/C flying community. The only real restriction is a ban on "pusher aircraft" because some were being flown there that were extremely loud. The neighbors did not appreciate that.

There are usually a fair mix of heli's and planks flying there. Good people all around.
Here is a link to the Chandler bowl thread on rcgroups. I would start at the last page and work back to get an idea of what is currently going on there. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=346286
Here is a link to a photo field file for realflight G3 that Chris "Fogger" made. It gives a good idea of how the field is laid out. http://www.speedshutterphoto.com/Photofields/Chandler-Bowl/chandler-bowl.zip

There are other places to fly around the Phoenix area. Hopefully someone will chime in and give some info.

Charlie,
Are you going to fly Saturday afternoon in the Chandler Bowl?
I flew there Thursday.

Hi John,
I will if I am not called out to work. I am on reserve duty today through Monday. It may get a little too wet to fly but we won't know until tomorrow morning. I normally get out there around 4pm or later but that is just from habit. I can show up earlier if you are going out before that.

Thanks John, It was very nice to meet you and watch you fly your powerful Logo600. I now understand more about what Nathan has been saying regarding the power of the neu motors compared to others. Still not the ticket for me but definitely a thrill to watch. :)
