Gyro gain switch other than Hold-Rudder D/R

OK, I have answered my own question by searching through this forum. It seems you have an alternate option to control the gear/gyro rate channel (channel 5) by either the gear switch, aux 2 switch, or the gyro sensing options. Gyro sensing only allows you to use Auto sensing by flight mode, or the Hold-Rudder D/R toggle which neither work well for my needs.

So I chose the Gear switch to control the gear channel, and then set my rates up for +30 and -40 initially for testing. I should now be able to switch my gyro using my gear switch. Its not intuitive, but i will mostly leave it in HH mode anyway. Also, I am not using any functionality designed into the transmitter for gyro switching, but I am sure it will work fine. Any other comments or set up methods/options? - thx

I have a DX7 and want to be able to use the Hold-Rudder D/R toggle for throttle hold, which makes sense, but I also want to be able to switch between HH and rate on my 401 gyro.

Question is that in Auto Gyro Sensing mode, you only have one choice per flight mode and can't toggle between HH and Rate. The only other option seems to be to use the Rudder D/R switch to togle between HH and Rate. Meaning that you set up such that 0 is some number greater than 50% and 1 is some number less than 50%.

I want to be able to use something to switch my gyro besides Auto or the Rudder D/R switch.

Does anyone know how to use the elevator or gear swtiches for gyro sensing? Does anyone recommend an alternate set up? let me know.. thx

That is a good question, I just did a T-Rex 450 build with a DX7 and that bothered me, on a DX6 you can assign the ele and ail D/R to the same switch, I use the elevator switch, and I can assign the gyro to the aileron switch, its a nice option
