ION-x2 Bat selection

I am getting ready to order thunder power batteries for the ION X2. i have a choice of either two 5Ss or one 10s brick. the 10s is slightly longer and lighter and cheaper. will the 10s brick fit under the canopy? It would simplify things to buy the 10s instead of two 5s packs.

I am not clear about your answer. these would be extreme V2 batteries on the ION X2. i know on the regular ION-X the brick will not fit and it needs the two 5Ss.

There is no way a 10 pack would fit inside the V1 Ion.

Actually 10s1p 3700 flight power packs fit nicley on the Ion-X. Makes it heavy with one on each side but it works.
The only possibility of getting a single 10s pack on an Ion-X2 is if you find a brick style 10s pack.

Hello Saul, as mentioned earlier, a single brick style 10S TP pack should fit fine since it is made to mimic two 5S packs on top of each other. You may have to request this directly from TP unless you have already found a source for these. The picture below shows one 5S TP pack on top of the other in my X2's previous 10S 5000 Extreme configuration. The longer end-to-end configuration would obviously not fit as seen below. Also you have to think about the CG....on my Ion-X2 I mounted everything as aft as possible, so now approx. 1500 gr. battery weight in the nose makes the CG perfect.

I would say something between 1400-1500 gr. battery weight is about optimum for the Ion-X2.

With my FlightPower EVO30 4500ma 12S battery I have a battery that fits the heli and very good power for app. 6 minutes.

Thanks for all that replied. I have a 10s brick on order from Thunder Power. i am figuring it is simpler, and slightly lighter than 2 5S packs. We will see how it goes when i get the X2 conversion package and put it all back together.

One downside to a single 10s pack is if you incur damage to the battery if you happen to crash (it happens), where you may only damage a single 5s pack, you will probably toast the 10s pack which is definitely not good.(or cheap).
