Guys,

I need some help from you specialists cause I'm a very newbie to this stuff (and apologize my english...).

I'm trying to setup my 450SEV2 with a GY 401 and a Futaba 6EX radio. And I don't know if my questions wouldn't be better in the thread for gyro setup...

I studied Finless's videos on setting up the gyro and the videos on setting up CCPM several times. But I couldn't fix the problems.

So I think there must be one ore more of you who have the same configuration. I would please you to PM me your settings.

Apart from my question for the setting, someone please could explain the following:

- What effect has a change of the setting of the EPA on Ch 4 (Rudder) in normal and in HH mode? As I understand the EPA effect in HH mode is the velocity of the resulting pirouette when I move the rudder stick. But what is the effect in normal mode. And how will the effects of EPA for Ch 4 and the limit potentiometer of the 401 will interfere. Do they interfere at all?
- What effect has the EPA change on Ch 5 (Gyro)??? The 6EX has a setting for the gyro where I can change the gain for normal and HH mode. How does a change of the EPA for Ch 5 interfere with the change of the settings in gyro mode.
- Has a change of EPA for Ch 4 also some effects on the behavior of the gyro gain when I change the settings in the gyro mode???

All these things are confusing me.
My aim is setting up the 401 for normal and HH mode. The tail servo is 90°, the pitchslider in center position. The tail-hub is moving smooth and in the correct direction. When I move the tail, the gyro also moves the servo and pitchslider the correct way.
I turn on the radio and I connect the flight battery, gyro in HH mode. When everything has initailzed I switch to normal mode (The pitchslider of the hub is still in center position). Then I give throttle (normal pitch curve 40-55-70-85-100 and pitch-2° to +10°). Now I should trim the rudder to the right until the Heli stops rotating to the (nose) left. But I can't find such a position.

So I would appreciate your help by answering my questions to understand the interference between the different settings of EPA for Ch 4 and 5 and sthe settings for the Gyro gain and it would be very nice if someone could send me his settingsof the 6EX and 450VE2.

Thank you for your advice

Jo

What you need to do is put your EPA adjustments for channel 4 to 100%. Then go to the gyro menu on the tx and adjust the gain down so the light goes out on the Gyro,(this puts it into standard mode). Then adjust the Limit on the Gyro itself while moving the rudder back and forth to make sure your not binding one way or the other. Then once you have the limit correct, adjust the gain up on the Tx until the light comes on I usually run mine at about 20-25% for normal flying. Idle up I use more Gain. If you have too much gain you will get the "tail Wag" effect. I hope this helps.

The Rudder EPA (ATV) controls the pirouette rate. It controls it both in AVCS and Normal mode.
Set the travel of the servo with the limit adjustment on the gyro. The EPA /ATV does not affect the travel of the servo, the gyro controls the travel with the limit setting.

Channel 5 or what ever channel the Aux plug from the gyro is plugged into is what controls the mode and gain settings of the gyro. If the transmitter has a Gear Switch, usually flipping that switch one direction will put in AVCS mode and the other direction will be Normal mode.

You do have the rudder mixing inhibited ( turned off) in the menu on the radio? If that program is active, it is adding tail rotor as the collective and throttle are changed. That will screw up your set up.
