Well I have a 300 that I have been fiddling with for quite some time, haven't had a whole lot of success and the only reason I am sticking with it is that I got a great deal on it from ebay. I am trying to get this thing in the air and want so much to like it for its size and inexpensive batteries and all, but I don't like the rotor head, and the v3 shaft is shorter so my throws are all screwy compared to the v2. I am just at the point where I would have been equal to buy the thing new compared to used, just have a bunch of extra parts compared to a new kit, however my question is, how do I get the HDX head to work right? it binds at its operational limits and when installed with the servos it won't quite get the proper pitch. I am still fiddling, was lookin for some pointers that aren't already addressed in any of the videos from Finless. Thanks for the help.

The best pointer out there is to give it up for lost. It makes a great looking paperweight or conversation piece for your desk. But that is it.

I second that. I give up on mine...Had it flying with the V2 head and it would eat itself.... the only
head I was able to get work was the one from my CPPRO.....

Yeah I don't know about the whole give up decision yet. I like the size and belt drive tail and all. I have a plastic cp pro head and have a line on a machined one for 90 bucks, what size shaft will it fit on? I have the HDX shafts and maybe I can get the plastic head to work, we will see. I will keep people updated on it if I figure it out.

well I am making some progress messing with the pitch links, I am bouncing back and forth on the length of the length. I can get it to hover pretty good but not completely satisfied, it doesn't climb like I want it to
I am going to continue messing with the lengths of the pitch change links on the blade grip and the mixer arm link lengths. I am running an Esky 25 am esc and a 3800 kv motor, I am going to also order some different pinions.. I had to modifiy the motor mount a little to get the motor to fit. I am also looking for allen head screws that fit that also have a small size head to fit inside the frames. Will update when I have more info

I would be quite interested if you can get yours flying right. I too hate to give up on something, but just can't justify the expense right now.

I have mine flying since last year. I have a V2 head . I solved the binding problem by machining a bolt on extended control arm on a set of microheli 450 grips and using the align feathering shaft. The stock 42T pulley was replaced by a 33T one. I used the esky 3100 BL motor with an 11T pinion. Runs on 1350 mAH 3S pack. I also replaced the stock TR blades with the align "batman" blades. So far no problems.

Just an update on the V-3 Shaft and Plastic Blades. They do work, I hovered the HDX 300 in my living room area (6ft x 6ft). You just have to make sure that you don't use the blade CP blades with the v-2 head as they cause two much shaking and will ultimatly cause you to rip the head apart with the high head speed. Just me I already did it.

I got my pitch set at about +8/-8. If anyone is interesed I will post the specifics or PM me and I will PM them back to you.

I am really stoked now. It is winter here in Minnesota and the T-Rex 450 XL is kind of hard to fly in the house so I can fly the HDX 300 till the weather improves.

More Later

For all of you that are interested in my HDX300 setup here it is. If you have any questions that PM me and I will help you out.

Head System: HDX 300 v-1 to v-2 upgrade.
Servos: 4 (HS-55)
Gyro: E-Flight Head Lock Gyro G90
Radio: Futaba 7CAP
Links: The ones that come if the v-1 v-2 head upgrade kit.
Blades: Plasti-Blades - the wood ones are too heavy unless you can get them balanced and tracked prefectly

Mount the three CCPM servos with the output shaft to the top of the Heli.

linkage measuement are all on milimeters. Note you may have to take a wire cutter and trim a few theards off of each end to get the links to fit properly.

Note this setup is still WIP but it will get you close.

Servo arms: use the ones from the HS-55 Servos ( the one with the two arms) use the middle hole on all three.

Servo to Swash link length: 7mm (approx) distance between the links. Make sure that swash plate is level

Swashplate to upper mixing arms: 19mm (approx)
Lower Mixing arms to Flybar cage: 3mm (approx) use the the longer link ends.

upper mixing arms to blade grips: 1.5 -2mm (approx)
Pitch range -11 + 11 (approx).

Hope this helps. If you need the Radio setup just PM me again and I will PM it back to you.

Any questions just ask. Heli direct will be coming out with a manual soon. I will keep you informed.

Thanks
